Refunded goods - item dispatched

Hello all,
A new poster and a little confused.
I placed an order for a games console then it was taking longer than stated so i cancelled it and the credit agreement. I received my deposit back in to my bank and received emails from the credit company and retailer confirming they had cancelled my order.
I checked the retailer’s website earlier and the order is now dispatched?!
What goes on now then? If it comes is it mine? I do not want to be paying for it to be returned either.
Thanks in advance of any replies.

Contact the retailer by email and tell them that you are refusing delivery of the item as you have cancelled the order.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. If it arrives its not yours and needs to be sent back.
The company should cover the costs of the return.
the easiest thing is to refuse the delivery, then it'll be sent back to the company0 -

Just contact the retailer and ask. Probably just an error on their website (although I wonder why you were checking if you'd already had confirmation from them that the order had been cancelled...).0 -
It may sound like I am scamming but I am not.
1) I am at work now and no is home so what if it is left with a neighbour? (very often things are when no one is home) – when on their T&C’s it states any returns must be paid for by me
2) I checked on the website as for 2 weeks it just kept stating ‘order processing’ and even after I received the confirmation of the cancellation it stayed the same so I wanted to double check just in case this happens.
3) Their customer service is very slow to respond and they don’t have a contact telephone number. I got confirmation of the cancellation 3 days after I cancelled it so if it was dispatched it would more than likely be with me before they even read my email.
So ultimately I am not prepared to pay for it to be returned. So what happens?
Oh and thank you for the non-judgemental nature…..0 -
OP AFAIK and from what I've read in the posts above, you just need to contact the company to let them know what is going on.
Give them the facts rather than any details into how annoyed you may feel. Then state what you would like to happen being that the item needs to be returned, ie if you need it to be collected, when can it be collected (be fair about this, it's not fair to expect them to collect it at 3am for example) if it isn't possible for them to collect it, can it be taken to a store or post office- offer this and if it costs you postage or travel fare or means you are out of pocket then ask for a refund for the travel fare (though you may need evidence such as the ticket to send in).
I would give them a week to respond before contacting them again (this isn't a rule or anything, just how I would work). Yes it is frustrating and time consuming and everything else but it's better for your own piece of mind than worrying about them chasing you for payment at a later date.0 -
If it arrives you cant keep it. It doesnt belong to you. That is called theft.
If it arrives just refuse delivery.
contact the seller and tell them that you have already cancelled and that when it arrives it was be refused on the door and not to charge your credit card again.0
