I really am not sure what you can do I am worried now we are just about to cancel a car insurance policy because we now have a company car hope they don't say the same!

You'd better check your policy, after all this hassle with Bennetts I have been reading through our car policy and they charge £50 cancellation fee   BUT they do refund on unused premiums,so not as bad as Bennetts.

We have now paid the £30,but under protest ;) we are going to the CAB to find out if we can claim the charge back,or at least the refund from Equity red star
    Debt at highest £102k

If the Bennetts terms and conditions say that you won't get any refund, and you'll be charged £30, then that's what you signed up to and that's what you have to pay.

It's irrelevant whether the actual insurer has given them a refund - your contract is with Bennetts.

It does sound like Bennetts are penal in their charging compared to others, but you had a free choice of insurers and brokers.
