Hi everyone,
I know I'm not really a regular on here but the advice of members has been instrumental in my debt-free journey over the past three or four years, so I wanted to share and celebrate the fact that as of 2nd Jan 2015 I am debt free and delighted!
I have been helped by inheritance, and also by changing jobs a couple of times in the past two years which has given me a massive pay increase since I started my DMP.
It is easy to forget how dark those first days were but forcing myself to remember them has now put me in a place where I know I won't ever make the same mistakes again that landed me in debt in the first place.
My finance decisions now are based upon long term goals and not satisfying short term wants and fads. Im also saving up for a mortgage with a massive £300 a month going into ISA's or Save To Buy accounts and I have even been accepted for a low-limit, high-interest CC which I am self-limiting to £80 a month spend, and paying off in full every month to hopefully help build credit rating.
I know I'm one person with a success story now, but for all those who are still on their journey, I was once you - seemingly miles off my goal, slogging at work all week and not really seeing any of my money, but please please please do not lose hope or give up. There are people and organisations there to help and they will help and there is an end to it all.
Be happy people, knowing that you are working hard to make your own life better.
