edited 7 January 2015 at 6:20PM in Compers chat corner
I had a phonecall monday at around 11:30am from a lady from the Sunday times saying i had won the Funday times comp to Venice for 3 night and that first she needed to check that i complied with the t&c's ( fair enough) the comp was for two adults and two children under 11. I told her it would be me, my partner and our 4 year old son.

She told me that as the t&c's stated it was for 2 adults,2 children she would email the promoters and see if they would still agree to me winning and get back to me. that was two days ago and ive heard nothing :(:( Should i just except that i didnt meet the criteria or should i phone the Sunday times to chase up?

Just phoned the Sunday times, the lady said they have to give the promoters 28 days to get in touch and that the promoters will be in contact with me either way (wether i will be accepted with the one child or not) she said that usually if there is an issue it gets flagged up quite quickly as they would be contacted by the promoters to pick another winner. I have everything crossed super tight! Hope i hear something soon xxx

Thanks weeowens, i do worry that as we only have the one we are less likely to win family holidays ( as im sure people with more than 2 children feel sometimes) Ive been trying to forget about the phonecall but my other half keeps pestering me asking if ive heard anything. I keep saying to him, what will be, will be! x

We were lucky enough to win a comp through the Times last year. It was a holiday for the usual 2+2, at that time we were three adults 1 having learning difficulties. They very kindly and quickly got the break sorted for the three of us to go. The organisers were great and we all had a lovely time. I am sure you will not have to wait 28 days to find out, good luck.

    Hi,ronansmum

On the two big holidays wins I have had I just negotiated to add a child. On the NY trip they cancelled the $1000 dollar SAKS voucher & just added a child.
On the Vancouver trip I just paid the airfare & they let me pick a hotel that did not charge for children.
There is always a chance so hang in there.

Have you not got a niece, nephew, child of a family friend or similar that you could take? Seems a bit silly really what if you had 2 children and 1 was poorly and couldn't go so your parents looked after them, would you not be then allowed to go if you still wanted too.

I can see why they might not want to allow it if you do not have 2 children the correct ages to take - if they decide to award the prize to someone who does not meet the criteria clearly set out in the T&Cs then they open themselves up ASA complaints for not fairly administering the promotion - everyone who entered and met the conditions will potentially have lost out and so will everyone who might have entered but didn't because of the entry criteria.

If you can find another child to take they should allow it as per this ruling against the Sun, the T&Cs still do not state you must have parental responsibility for the children you want to take.
