Remortgage - question about affordability.

Hi, I am overdue for a remortgage and have an appointment with the financial advisor that I usually use on Thursday, they have organised several mortgages for me in the past and I'm happy with them but I'm now in a situation that I wasn't in previously and need advice prior to going to see them.
The mortgage is currently just in my name as I wasn't married when I took out the last deal and I am looking at keeping it in just my name for no other reason that I don't want to pay the £2-300 to add my wife to the deeds. As far as we are both concerned it adds no value to anything from a legal perspective so would just be wasted money.
My wife has no debts but I have quite a lot on credit cards, in order to get the mortgage that we need to see us through to the next remortgage I have to pay off some of that debt. So my question is, can I shift the debt on to her cards so that the debt is her liability and won't count against me as the mortgage payer on the affordability calculator?
I hope that question makes sense. Basically I went for the remortgage last September and was told that I wouldn't be able to afford the new mortgage even though the payments were less than what I was currently paying due to my short term credit commitments.
