Being Contacted By Creditors

I was declared BR in September 2014, I'm still receiving letters and phone calls from creditors (which I expected tbh) but when I've spoken to a couple of them they say they've not been informed of my BR by the OR!
Is this normal or should I be chasing someone?

The OR normally aims to issue a report to creditors within 8 weeks I think. They will write to some sooner, such as where there is an active bank account that needs sorting, but most creditors will not hear anything until the report as far as I know.
Tell your OR you are being chased and give them the correspondence. Ask them to write to them.
You can also write to/email creditors warning them off yourself if you feel like it. See: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=63168413&postcount=1Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

If you are still getting letters, forward these to the OR so they can double check the info they hold (amend/add any reference number) and send out a copy of the RTC. You could also forward a copy of the Bankruptcy Order to the creditors involved.I worked as a case clerk for the IS for a number of years. Any views expressed are my own. If your query is urgent, please contact the OR or LTADT dealing with your case directly.

Thanks both - will get on to it as I'm fed-up with the calls!xxx Nikki xxx0

The Bankruptcy Order is your "trump" card. They (creditors) can ring you up & write but once they know your info from the Order they should leave you alone. Note I say should.... I wrote a particularly "nasty" letter to HBOS & strangely enough it worked. I mentioned that any future correspondence from me would incur them an invoiced charge.0

I'm currently going through the phase of debt collectors passing debts on to other collectors after being told that I'm bankrupt.
I may need to get out more but I'm currently enjoying the phone calls where they spend 15 to 20 minutes trying to convince me to pay and then when I get bored inform them of the bankruptcy and hang up.0 -
After the bankruptcy I had pleasure in calling all my creditors and informing them of my bankruptcy
I printed out a copy of my bankruptcy award from the website and had the reference number to hand. They were all ok and after asking to speak to a supervisor on more than one occasion and then directed them to the aib website ( I am in Scotland and all this stuff is online straight away) .
I told them I had sent them all a letter and a copy of my BR paperwork and they were not getting another copy as I wasn't wasting my time any more.
Barclaycard were the thickest and could not understand why I had not gone to court ( the Scotttish Governenment remitted the AIB office to deal with all but complicated BR's. Complicated ones still go to court)
I was really sarcastic with Barclaycard and offered them £0.00 for 100 years!0 -
