Halifax interview

Just sitting through a mortgage review with Halifax, help! It's taken an hour, wants to know my holidays, more children expectations, memberships of clubs etc etc. Really? I have been a customer for 8 years, never defaulted, have a mortgage to income ratio of 1.8 and 45% equity and am an Accountant - spare me!

What is the purpose of the review?

New regulations they say. Two years ago, I just called them up and they gave me the fix rates on offer within minutes. Now, you have to spend an hour with them on a premium line, cheeky !!!!!!s.

    Not true.

If you choose the advised route, over the phone or via a branch, Halifax has chosen to interpret the MMR as insisting an affordability check is carried out for a customer retention product, with no increase in borrowing.

To avoid this, you are able to choose a new customer retention product online, without advice. However, this may not be an option if any of your loan in interest-only.

Why didn't you tell me this an hour ago ;-) ? Anyway, he's calling back with some rates soon, they'd better be good.
