Has anyone had cosmetic surgery abroad?

For years I've wanted to get my nose fixed but financially I've never been in the position to do it. Now I'm in a permanent job, I have a disposable income and I know I can afford to take out a loan.
I'm considering getting the procedure done abroad where it's cheaper. I'm thinking mainland Europe rather than a long haul flight.
Has anyone had any experience of this? My main concern obviously is finding a good clinic/surgeon. I'd love to hear about other peoples experiences.
Thanks

If 'getting it cheaper' is a priority - you really can't afford it.
You will not be able to get medical insurance for your trip, and if anything unexpected happens - you really will be up the creek!
Google Kellie Moloney (The boxing promoter who recently had a sex change.)
She went to Belgium for facial surgery - not to get it cheaper, but to get the best surgeon - money being not much of an object for her.
Things still went very wrong (Just due to a bad reaction - no fault of the surgeon). So things DO go wrong.
Fortunately, Kellie could still afford the bills even after all the critical care she received.
Could you?
With no insurance to cover it?
At least in this country, if critical care was needed, you'd be ambulanced to the nearest NHS hospital.
What would happen in Bulgaria? Or Poland?
Health tourism is a very bad idea. Don't do it.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
No, no, no! I considered it - Prague is said to be the cosmetic surgery capital, but there were all sorts of other things to think about, like hotel stays, travel if you don't feel well etc etc.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Thanks for the responses.
Getting it cheaper isn't the priority, however if I can get the same standard of treatment abroad whilst saving a couple of grand that has to be taken into consideration. I appreciate there's other things to consider such as post op complications.
I've requested a call back from my nearest transform clinic, I think it's probably a good idea see exactly what the surgery will involve.
Having thought through the financial implications however, I think I'm going to save up rather than get a loan. I can afford the payments now and my job is as secure as any can be these days, but things can change. I'm 30 and in a serious relationship so the money could well be needed for other things in a year or two.
That said I'd still love to hear from anyone who's had cosmetic surgery either in the UK or abroad. Thanks!0 -
I've had reduction mammoplasty a couple of years ago now, at the local Spire private hospital. One of the best decisions I ever made. Too-big boobs are not only embarrassing, but they're uncomfortable in all sorts of ways.
I realised some investments to pay for it. Very, very pleased with the whole experience.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
