    I am torn now.
There's a Morphy Richards stainless steel one on the Argos website that's a bit of a drive away for me, as local branch has none in stock…for £50, and a Prestige aluminium one for £33 in a nearer branch.

Steel one is dishwasher safe, aluminium isn't.
    Both have great reviews.

    Aaaaargh, what to do.
I was originally going for the Lidl one that comes into stores on Thursday, that's what started all this off for me, but I've since found it only pressures to 10psi(if that's the correct measurement) and I think 15 is the ideal.

My current pressure cooker is a Prestige aluminium one, the instruction book states that the pressure is 12 lbs which I find perfectly OK for cooking things like gammon joints or soup and even Christmas puddings. My previous one was also aluminium and lasted over 30 years but I don't think this latest one will last as long as it's quite flimsy. However it suits me as I only use it about once every 2 weeks. Washing by hand is no problem, you just soak it for a bit and it comes up clean, I wouldn't bother to waste valuable dishwasher space on a large item anyway.

If you're planning to use yours daily, I would say go for stainless steel but stick with a well known brand as you will need to replace the gasket from time to time, and I'm not sure how you would fare with getting spare parts for a Lidl model.

By the way, if you're willing to spend around £100 look for comments on here about Kohn Runi pressure cookers which people seem to swear by - I may have got the spelling wrong but you should find it.

Great advice thanks. I think that's just made up my mind.
Very good point about space in the dishwasher, and I only have a slimline one….I have a £25 argos gift card that i got for my birthday, so I think I will go with the Prestige aluminium one for £33 which will only cost me £8 cash on top of the gift card (it gets really good reviews and is quite simple with 3 weight choices and few things to go wrong by the sounds of it)….then I can see how much I use it, how much I like it and possibly upgrade at some point in the future to a stainless steel one.

The snazzy £100+ ones do look lovely and get rave reviews from what i've seen, but it's a bit too much for me, especially for my 1st pressure cooker.

Thanks to everyone who has offered advice, you guys are fab. :)
