Plenty of deals for 5 years fixed with lower rates including one with no product fee.

    Engage a mortgage broker.

But is the hassle of mmr etc worth a marginally cheaper rate? We earn 50k between us. Approx 75% ltv. Have one child. No other debts. Just student loan £60 pm.

Given that a mortgage adviser (post 11) has suggested you try it, why not at least see what a broker has to say?

What is the 'hassle' to which you refer?

The 'hassle' should only be relevant if you are NOT using a mortgage broker. It is a broker's job to manage the 'hassle'.

  • Get a broker. I was dubious but went with the general advice of this forum and found one locally via unbiased.co.uk. Saw him just before Christmas, sorted out a few issues for us with the minimum amount of fuss and I've had a text this morning from Nationwide to say the formal offer is in the post. Brilliant service, i will be recommending him when possible.

    Thanks.

How much do brokers charge and how do I find a good one? I'm in Hertfordshire.
