ok cheers-if my wife gets less than the carers allowance it will be topped to that amount
if my wife gets over the payment of carers allowance she will get the care premier
is that right sorry if i am going on,but it may help some one who reads this
plus can my wife receive a weekly state pension if she wants?0 -
if my wife gets less than the carers allowance i presume she can defer state pension and then both of us will still be on pension credit, even though will get less, only (i.e the state pension level)0

You can't defer when in receipt of Pension Credit. You wife is deemed to be in a household to whom PC is in payment.
You can't get State Pension and Carers Allowance at the same time but the person being cared for could get DLA etc if not already?0 -

"If you claim Pension Credit while you defer claiming your State Pension (or shared additional pension), your Pension Credit will be worked out as if you were getting your State Pension.
If you or your partner defer, or have already deferred claiming your State Pension while claiming Pension Credit, you don't build up extra State Pension or the lump sum for the days you are getting Pension Credit."
From NI site but would appear to apply to England as well?
However, you should ring the pension credit helpline and get advice specific to your personal circumstances.
