Remortgaging whilst pregnant / on maternity leave advice

My husband and I have very recently discussed the possibility of having a baby (neither of us have any children at present). Until this point, we were dead set against having children so any ‘life’ decisions we had made up until now were based on that scenario. I am in my late thirties and he is in his early forties.
Our home is technically my house; I bought it before we got together and the mortgage has always been in my name. The current fixed rate mortgage deal runs out mid 2017.
My husband’s credit rating isn’t as good as mine (which is spotless) and so we have never been financially linked, although I think his has possibly cleared by now - something we need to check...
Could someone please advise as to our options with regards to remortgaging in 2017 if I am pregnant or on maternity leave? I’m assuming I’d have to go onto the SVR or we somehow put the house into joint names?
Thank you

My wife and I recently got a mortgage while she was on the last 3 (unpaid) months of her maternity leave. She just had to get a letter from her employer stating her return to work date, hours, and pay rate. However, we have been financially linked since we got married 12 years ago and both have spotless credit records, so I don't know if it will be the same for you.
However, my advice would be to not worry about it now - concentrate on having a child first. I don't mean to be blunt, but there are no guarantees, and from my own experience at the ages you are, things may not go as smoothly as you planned, or things may not even go as you planned at all.
Once you've got over that hurdle, you won't care much about mortgages and all that stuff as long as you have a roof over your growing family's head.0 -
The fact that your are married creates an association by default.
What negative factors are impacting your husbands credit file?0 -
Do you actually mean a remortgage or just a new product from your existing lender?
The mortgage market in two plus years' time may be different to now.
