Baby Steps to OSness!

After so many lovely and helpful replies to my grocery shopping thread I thought I'd make it a bit more formal so here's my diary for OSness for this year!
It'll mainly be about food (it's my great love after all;) ) but as I get into the swing of things I'm sure other OSness will begin to creep in. That's the plan anyway.
So. Reposting my meal plan for this week in here:
Children are back to school this week (DS on Monday and DD on Tuesday) so they'll be having their main meal at school - cue more variety for DH and I
Mon: Cheese, Leek and Potato Tortilla - We've got loads of cheese left over from NYE so this week is a cheesy one Monday night is swimming lesson for DD so I usually do something pretty quick and easy for DH and I once we're back
Tues: Pork Traybake - Two loin steaks already in the freezer are earmarked for this meal. I have sweet pots, parsnip and carrot in the fridge and will add in an apple or two as well along with some blue cheese to top the chops
Wed: Satay Beef Stirfry - Beef left over from Sunday dinner and noodles in the cupboard
Thurs: Spiced lamb pittas Pittas in the freezer and will use up last week's soured cream to make a kind of tatziki dip
Fri: Lasagne and garlic bread My M&D are visiting so this will need to be large enough for 4 adults and 2 children
Sat: CurryWill proabably make 2 kinds. I have some rice in the freezer so will only need 2 naans. M&D out so not cooking for them
Sun: Roast pork and trimmingsM&D will be here for this meal and I have a large joint in the freezer that I bought when 1/2 price. Will make fruit sponge for pud with blackberries from the freezer.
I shall need to buy tea fixings for the children for this week and a few other basics but hopefully this can be a fairly frugal shop.
And here's the results of my first OS conscious shop!:
4pts milk: £1
Choc/Vanilla puds: £1.50
Yoghurts: £1
Tuna x4 cans: £3.50
Stuffing mix: 75p
Korma sauce: £1
Tikka Masala sauce: £1
Mince (500g): £3.95
10 Sausages: £4.50
Corned beef: £3
Lamb Steaks: £3.60
Chicken thighs: £4.50
Garlic bread x2: £1.40
Naan (2 pack): 70p
Apples: £1

I was sooo chuffed!
I know there's no household/cleaning items needed this week but that's way lower than my normal shop!!
A few extras I will need to get are:
1. Carton drink for DD to take on a school trip on Thursday
2. Salad - needed for Friday so shall buy fresh then.
3. Bleach - hadn't realised I'd run out.
Other than that though....should be good for the week!
Phew - that was a long post. Sorry.

Thank you M1!!
DH has just informed me that he's not eating at home tomorrow night...
so pork chops will stay in the freezer and I'll have the leftover sliced potatoes from tonight fried with something else yummy and an egg on top for my dinner tomorrow and save even more!!0 -
Well - a couple of days further on and not much spending to report! :j
Did a small top up shop but (probably for the first time ever) bought only what was on my list - grand total £3.08. Have updated amount in my signature.
Made butternut squash and sage soup this morning. Four generous portions of which one is gone (yum)
one is in the fridge for DH to take to work on Friday and two are in the freezer. Feeling very virtuous!
Also three pounds down in weight which is good. Have got out twice this week for a run and will run again on Friday. Distances are shorter as I'm a bit out of practice
but speed is up thanks to a new Spotify playlist!
Satay beef stirfry for dinner tonight. DS has a friend coming round to play so doing hotdogs for them for a treat.0 -
Another top up!!!
£5.33 spent. Not dreadful, and none of it was totally frivolous and it'll all get eaten but still...
My egg lady comes tomorrow so £2.40 in cash sat out ready for her. Her eggs are free range, ginormous and utterly delicious - that my lunch sorted!
Signature updated...0 -
