Cant remove ex partner off mortgage!

Hi guys,

I would be interested to know if anyone else is or has been through this situation!!!
I have paid for a joint mortgage on my own now for nearly 18month with natwest and i'm not seen as a suitable sole lender! Bareing in mind i have never defaulted on the mortgage always paid it on time etc!

This is really frustrating as my ex who is a bank manager for natwest wont pay the mortgage and would even sign the mortgage papers so my sister could come on it with me! !!!!!.....

He is only interested to gain some money out of me obvs but i have kept a roof over his 3 yr old daughters head also !!!

Whats anyones views or help would be grateful Thanks x

you need to tell us the outstanding amount of the mortgage and your gross annual income.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • Listen i know what my annual income is im not going to disclose that on here ..... I know my mortgage amount and im not gona disclose that either ..... I know what i can lend on my wage alone but unfortunately it doesnt cover the full amount of mortgage!

All im asking is did anyone do something different like write into the mortgage centre? or have to go to court did it work in their favour paying the mortgage on their own for so long did the courts stand by you?? etc etc ?

Listen, if you are going to be aggressive, you cannot expect anyone to help you. You really need to change your attitude. We are asked to be nice to newbies but newbies like you make it very very difficult at time.

    Go and pay for advice....

And you are borrowing, not lending.

There's no way you will get him off the mortgage without buying him out

If you cannot find a lender to mortgage you then the only alternative is to sell up ( but again only if your ex agrees )

Without a rough idea of your income there is NO way we can tell you if a mortgage is possible , there's no problem posting the information as its anonymous, same with the amount of mortgage you require

Without that information we cannot help you

Been there , seen it done it

Borrowed money from family to finance the buyout in my case

Is he likely to sign over the property to your sole name for his share of the equity ? Is he likely to agree to a sale ?

Are you claiming money from the CSA from him ? , think this could be classified as income but the new affordability rules have changed this . The lender will look at all your income and outgoings now before deciding .

It needs sorting out otherwise you will forever be in limbo , in the end I was able to remortgage and clear the family Loan

Lots of us have been through this. The information you have been asked if is not going to identify you, but will give the mortgage brokers a chance to identify a solution for you.

You do not mention if you were married or not (I am assuming not) but perhaps you would prefer to pop over to wikivorce and ask your question there? There is a section for non-married people and housing options.

You are a borrower, the bank or building society is the lender.

A default is three months missed payments or more on an unsecured credit agreement. What you mean is you've never had mortgage arrears.

A lender will only agree to the removal of a party from a mortgage if the party remaining can demonstrate ability to afford the payments and if the party to be removed from the mortgage and the ownership agrees.

Which is entirely his choice. You can continue to pay the mortgage, or you can go to court and seek a power of sale. Anything else is by mutual agreement between you.

You are obviously entitled to state your view of the situation here but those who can answer will give you the legal position and that may not correspond with what you think should happen.

What did the Deed Of Trust you set up when you purchased the property set out should happen in the event of you splitting up?
