Renovation Valuation

My partner bought a house in 2012 which was advertised at £170k. Due to it being in a bad state of repair he secured a price of £140k and undertook a full renovation. For remortgaging he'd like to know what it's now worth. It's a village situated cottage so there aren't similar properties on a street to give an indication although similar properties across the village are advertised at £300+ but aren't selling at this price.
Can an estate agent be asked to value it or is there another means.

Thank you.

I recently got a free written valuation from a local estate agent. But the mortgage company's valuer may come up with a different figure.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Remortgage for what purpose. Release funds, a better interest rate?
  • thank you for replies.

Thrugelmir - for a better rate ideally. Valuation of 170k would mean 70% mortgage. Higher value would be even better. Thanks.

Typically a remortgage valuation from a lender would be free as part of the package.

Note they very, very rarely go over the figure you value the property at.

Additionally they can sometimes be conservative when they see the price you paid in last few years.

Unique and bespoke properties do also not always go well on valuations and 2 surveyors could value dramatically differently.

Unlikely to cost to get to the point of seeing what value and therefore what product you can obtain.

    Good luck
