I use zip lock style bags for freezing soup. That way, I can flatten the bag and fit lots more into the freezer :)

Interesting idea. I always have just reused carry out containers (the sort Chinese take-aways come in). Pop the soup in, let it cool first then put in the fridge. Once cold move to the freezer if not using within 24 hours.

When I come to use it I just pop the frozen block out the container and melt it in a pan on a low heat, turning up the temperature once the bulk of it has melted. Has the advantage that you don't need to plan in advance and defrost it.

I use the ziplock bags, but i've stopped buying them. I reuse the ones that you get cheese in.

I freeze soups in the chinese-type containers; when they're frozen I transfer them to sandwich bags (I can stack far more that way).

I pick out what I need each night for the next day and pop the bags open end down into bowls to defrost overnight.

I use containers that have a number 5 recycling code and am making a bit of an effort to avoid Bisphenol A, so I probably wouldn't use the plastic bottle tops in your pictures.

I get all my wasteful friends in the office to save their M&S soup containers for me, which I wash and reuse. Take to work frozen and by lunchtime just about defrosted and containers are o.k. For microwave use. I find bags messy if contents gave defrosted.

I rinse out plastic milk containers and re-use those. Now it's just me the smallest one pint size is ideal. I also use ziplocks but found they were unreliable when defrosting - the ones specifically for soup actually leak!

I like the store and pour bags you can get in HB for a pound or so. They also lie flat and can be marked / dated. They're rewashable so cheap to reuse.

Otherwise I'll usually use anything going from milk cartons, clip tubs etc. I have a couple of good "vintage" tuperware tubs in orange that are great for reheating tomato / orange based soups.

    I use plastic tubs.

Been a bit wary of using bags as i am afraid of the mess should they leak on defrosting.

    Some good ideas posted though

I use the Sistima (sp) soup mugs, just bought another couple in Ald!, I fill them with soup, cool, then freeze them, take them to work frozen, by lunchtime they are ready to be zapped in the microwave. In the past I have lined them with freezer bags and freeze them into mug shaped lumps to pop into mugs as I need them.
