Ex-comper looking to get back to it - motivation needed

Options
Hi all,

I gave up comping back in Jan 2013 so I've had about 2 years out.

Before this as you'll see from my signature here I had a pretty good success rate, but life got busy with having to complete my doctoral studies etc, and the wins seemed to be getting less and less at this time with competitions probably becoming more popular.

I am still a very busy bee and I'm hoping it's worth returning to?!

Motivation needed! Any tips for incorporating it in to daily life again? I hope not all competitons are on facebook now as this seemed to be a growing trend when I quit, and I didn't enjoy bugging all my friends with my little hobby!
2008-2011: £23k of wins
2011 best win: my wedding ring :o
2012 best win so far: iPad 2!!!! Holiday to Austria (given to family member) :j also £100 & 2 wine cases
Thank you so much, all posters

    Welcome back :)

I eased off from comping for a while although I didn't stop completely - life has a habit of changing around and our priorities and time are often better spent on other things ;)

There are loads of comps on FB and lots of things on there to win with liking/sharing, however I completely changed tack a couple of months ago and stopped doing any sharing at all - I still won around £900 worth of prizes in December (from all sources - online, FB apps and twitter), so there's lots out there to win even without sharing on FB :D

    Good luck!

Welcome back... however your wins are a lot better than mine. I did the whole fb thing and my friends got pretty annoyed too. So now I've set up a new fb and have only comping friends and I've won a lot through that fb account, only thing is i never go on my other one now! lol
Good luck getting back into it!

Just last week a forum member won some teabags!

If that doesn't serve for inspiration, I don't know what will! :D
  • I'm just back again too after a busy year or so. My motivation is that my busy year consisted of a divorce, remortgage, full time work and a lot of building work on my house. So my comping mojo has returned purely because I quite fancy winning some things I couldn't afford otherwise! Got back into it with one long splurge, getting myself entered in a ll comps that finished in the next few days, and am now just keeping one day ahead but trying to also do a few extra purely from the earliest date posted. Don't know if I'll ever get back to it as much as I was, not doing facebook, Twitter or any surveys but we'll see. No wins yet, but it's only been a fortnight!

All the motivation you need is the thought of a jaw dropping Wem, postie turning up with a fab parcel or a Lwe or that Wtc which has you shrieking around the room!

  • Personally I wouldn't bother - too many people entering means less chance of winning, but as the saying goes "you have to be in it to win it"

It doesn't help when MSE send out a mailshot every other week saying "comping is an easy way to increase your income" and then the influx of new compers arrive entering anything and everything hoping to make a fortune as some newspaper articles would make you think it is so easy.

unless of course you wish to win a book, DVD or a fish slice (but then again the chances of winning a fish slice on twitter is around 1:2500)
Yes, I know there is no "R" in the word dream in my username - it was setup in memory of my grandson :A
