On a mission to be debt free by 40

As my username suggests………….I am on a mission

Brief Introduction:
I have been a registered user of this site since 2004 although I am wanting to keep a diary for motivation and needed to change my username for anonymity reasons :o

I am currently 37 years old. I am married to a very supportive man who leaves the finances to me (I love spreadsheets) and have two children.

I currently have £22187 debt :o but my spreadsheet reliably informs me that if I snowball correctly this could be gone on the month I turn 40

However, this means paying off approximately £890 per month

Can I do it? I will give it a damn good try (hence my name ;))

Thanks for reading. Sorry to bore you all, as stated previously, this is a diary for motivation for me but feel free to come along for the ride if you want to.

  • Hi on a mission I am on the same mission to clear my debts before I am 40 so if you don't mind I will tag along for the ride. Unfortunately I hit the big 40 a bit before you :o

I'll be following along. I'm nearly 35 with 2 kids and also plan to be debt free by 40. Although I'm a bit younger than you I have more than twice as much debt so a long way to go :(.

Still I'm excited to be starting a new year and that I've found this forum as I can see that it has been a great support for many people.

    Good luck with your mission!

  • Good luck 'On a mission'. I'm on a similar mission myself 10 years ahead of you! I do have less to pay off but so wish I'd done it 10 years ago as my debts are nearly the same. Determined to stop paying minimum payments and get them cleared. Here's to a new start.

  • Afternoon OAM. I have also had a NSD today my 4th in a row. Have I finally had my LBM

Back to work for me tomorrow too, although I did work one day last week. Temptation for me is much higher at work as we have a very nice coffee machine in our canteen and other goodies. :o
