working tax credits - chasing up

I've applied for working tax credits... but how long do/should I wait after the initial approach? It must be getting on for a fortnight now? And do I have to go through the bill-busting hassle of a long on-hold call their hotline to chase things up - or is there another way...
this is from the initial approach. they've not sent me any forms at all or anything yet.

It will take at least 4 weeks. Two weeks is nothing with HMRC.0

"It will take at least 4 weeks."
So maybe I shouldn't chase up just yet then?0 -
Honestly ?
I wouldn't touch WTC with a barge pole.
I claimed when I was self employed and my earnings were low. We needed the WTC to help pay household bills.
Eventually I decided self employment wasn't working out for me and went back to work. I informed the tax office immediately but from the time I had claimed WTC to the time I informed them of my new job meant that ALL the WTC I had been paid was classed as an overpayment.
I now have to pay it all back.
It's not a helping hand.....it's a loan !No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30
