Depends, if the employer can make reasonable adjustments which can be the losing of certain parts of a job (though realistically these need to be minor roles IMO) then they should do but if they can't the employer does not have to keep you on, ultimately they hired you to do a specific job and if you can't do this and they can't offer you reasonable adjustments then unfortunately they could look to go through the dismissal via capability reasons.Hillbilly1 wrote: »Thanks for posting this. I have just had 2 weeks off before Christmas. I am going to see OH once back at work, and I am going back tomorrow.
I can do a lot of my job, just not physical aspects. I'm not sure how it will be handled and what OH are looking for. I don't think I should lose my job, but I think it could happen?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Thanks, is that sort of route likely to take a while? I'm trying to prepare for worst case scenario!NOT a NEWBIE!

If they do it right and if there is no option for you to stay with the company it can take months.Hillbilly1 wrote: »Thanks, is that sort of route likely to take a while? I'm trying to prepare for worst case scenario!
If you are a union member its best to ask them for support or guidance
Just to add though get as much advice as you can because this is obviously a big thing in your life at the moment and nothing is guaranteed in how the employer proceeds.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Good luck with the OT. I've recently had one due to absence from work and work trying to understand nature of condition, what reasonable adjustments could be made and long-term prognosis.
I found the process okay with someone who was understanding and gave an honest overview both for me and my employer to look at a way forward. It has helped me in my decision-making re my career.0 -
Thanks everyone, a small part of me thinks I'll be called to a meeting tomorrow and be gone by lunch!
I'm also at the re-thinking career options as this is ongoing and not going to get much better. Lots of options, need to think carefully!NOT a NEWBIE!

Define "be gone by lunch"?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
I meant that I'd be sacked! I know it's unlikely but have been feeling quite down about not being well.
