Hello to anyone who may be reading my little ol' diary and welcome to my world
I had my LBM fairly recently and I am ready to start the battle to become debt free. I am 40 next January and it feels quite an apt milestone in which to attempt to be debt free.
As of today I am £7162.90 in debt - all unsecured and I am going to try my hardest to pay this all off by the end of the year eeeeeek.
A little about me I am married, have one DD and two step children and two mad springer spaniels. I work full time and also have a small business which me and my hubby run. The business has been running for a year and even with having to buy quite a bit of stock we have managed to pull a profit in our first year. We have lots of bookings lined up for next year and I am hoping this will be the year we start to see all our hard work paying off.
Both me and hubby earn fairly good wages and in all honesty we just spend far too much on the nice things in life and with a little changing in both our habits we should be able to clear this debt this year.
Due to us both being previously married and having to sell properties in our divorces we are renting. Although I love my house I want my own house as I long for the security of your own home for my DD sakes if nobody elses. So the aim after our debts will be to put all our energy into saving for a house deposit.
I really would love some support along my journey, I am very aware that I am in a fortunate position compared to many but we each have our own journeys to take.
I have made some first few steps in the right direction but I know this is a marathon and things are simple at the beginning.

Good luck Chesteroo.. I will be reading to see how you are getting on!
I am 40 this year... November.. I was thinking of starting up a diary too of what I would like to achieve before I reach the milestone birthday!!
Happy new year to you... And good luck!0 -
Thanks Starfish. It's funny I am not worried about turning 40 I just want to be in the best place when I get there. I want to be debt free and a little bit slimmer and fitter than I am now :rotfl:
Let me know if you start a diary and I will follow yours too and we can motivate our way to the big 40 _party_0 -
Morning, it's a miserable wet day here which has completely put an end to the big long walk around the marina and duck feeding that I had planned with my DD today
We need to go out at some point as have lots to take to the recycling centre as our bins are still full from Christmas but will attempt to wait for the rain to go and dodge the showers.
So instead today is looking like a lazy home day which on the plus side may mean another NSD for me which will be 3 in a row!
I have just received £47.90 into our business account. I intend to leave this in there for now in case I need to buy any more stock but I will build up the payments over the month and then whatever is left at the end of the month can go onto our debts.
Going to have a mooch around the forum today and pick up some hints and tips. Have seen lots of mention of earning vouchers from surveys etc so may see if I can sign up for a few of these as any pennies towards next years Christmas would be gratefully received.
Have a fab Saturday!0 -

Good luck! I'm also trying to get rid of the last of mine by 40 (August this year for me). Used to have two rescue Springers as well, we sadly lost them both within 6 weeks of each other a couple of years ago and Mr Minx couldn't quite face having another one straight away, so we currently have a black working cocker, another rescue, who is a bit of a handful, but finally seems to be growing up a bit now she's turned three!0

Hi Caz, losing your two springers so close together must have been devastating I can't even think about anything happening to my two. Such a wonderful breed so loving and loopy :T
Had a productive day so far today. Due to the horrid weather I have managed my 3 NSD in a row which is unheard of for me, I am so pleased my head seems to be in a good place I just need to keep it going.
Have spent most of the day sorting out admin. Have used the horrid weather in my favour by filing my first ever tax return which actually didn't go to bad, next years will be a lot more complicated though as so many more bookings but at least this one is now all done.
Also sorted my car tax out which is due at the end of month, another expense that always creeps up on me every time even though I know exactly when it's due!
I have also remembered that I have two months off my council tax payments in February and March so will be using that to pay off some of the debt
Have been to mums tonight for dinner and to see my family which was lovely and now I am back home watching some trash TV and reading the forum for more ideas whilst hubby does his 12 hour night shift.0 -
Just sitting here trying to get my head around swagbucks. I am wondering how much work this is to get anything out of it. I know it won't make me rich but I am hoping to get a few vouchers to help with Xmas 2015 by doing some of the clicking and surveys.
Do any of you manage to get much from these sites?0 -
Another successful day for me today, I have somehow managed 4 NSD in a row!! I am back to work tomorrow though so that will be the true test. I have made soup for my lunch so as long as I can stay away from the lure of cans of coke and frothy coffees I should be ok.
I am back to fat club tomorrow, but I pay that on a DD and count that as one of my bills. Dread to think how much weight I have put on over the xmas period
Have signed up for most of the survey sites and cashback sites so I am hoping these will provide a few nice pennies and vouchers in 2015.
I have also signed up to some mystery shopping companies. I am not sure how these will work out but I am thinking anything is worth a go0 -
4 NSDs, that's good! Good luck! I'll be following your journey... just started my diary today - I'm also turning 40 in the 2nd half of this year, unfortunately it will be two years or so until I hopefully manage to clear off my CC debt.CC balance: £7445 | paid off so far: £3550

Evening, no more NSDs for me yet. Yesterday I had to buy some bits for my DD for her return to school and I also treated myself to a magazine at fat club. I also needed more coffee and milk, although in a true MSE way I bought the coffee which was half price rather than my normal coffee :T
Fat club went well last night, I managed to lose half a pound over Christmas and New Year, literally no idea how this happened so I am hoping this doesn't catch up with me next week.
Today has been another spend day as I ended up buying a coffee for someone who had come to visit me for a meeting, they had travelled quite far so seemed rude not to offer, but other than that I haven't spent anything else so I am happy it was still a low spend.
Have just checked my bank account and all looks ok so far, its going to be a tight month but I will make it to the end which is the main thing. Paid my final council tax for the year today so have checked my SO is cancelled so I get a nice break for the next two months so I can use this £150 to make a nice payment to one of my debts
Lunch is all ready for work tomorrow and I am hopeful I may be able to achieve NSD number 5 for January..........fingers crossed.0
