Help needed with xbox live

I bought my son an xbox one for xmas but we are unable to play games online. I have set up an x box live account but when we go to play a game online it says "Your gamer profile does not have the correct permissions to access this feature"


Please can anyone help us.

Have you bought a subscription for Xbox Live Gold?

Generally the message you receive is the one that indicates you only have a standard Xbox Live account and not a Gold membership which allows you to access certain online gaming features.

unlike the 360, online gaming is off by default on all profiles other than adult.

So do you have a couple of profiles and are logged on as the teen/child?

What you need to do is log onto the xbox one with an adult account. THen go to settings and select the child account to amend. From there go along to allow online gaming or similar. You will see its blocked.

Change it and all will be well.
