We had an endowment mortgage as that was what we were told was the best at the time and luckily when ours finished it just about covered it so we didn t lose out unlike lots of people .:o

Our endowment did not get any way near what they said it would... but we had moved house several times during the period and transferred to repayments, so it was a nice bonus when we received the payout this year!

    Pleased yours paid out x

Not really, would he be bothered if he was fixed at 5.9 and interest rates had gone up to 8 or 9%?

To be fair, if he has not got much paid off the house, he might struggle to get a deal much better. And remember, they will probably value the house now not far off what he paid for it 6 years or so ago, perhaps a lot lower.

There are some good deals out there to be had, but he does need to look at set up costs/what he has repaid.

In relation to the value of the house it depends on the local market, some have risen appropriately, some are stable and very few have actually dropped (these tend to have already picked back up).

Emerald, I have not taken a mortgage out for a while but I go through a specific advisor who is great and will tell you honestly whether it is worth moving. If you want me to get the contact details, let me know and I will dig them out x

Checked all the multis in A's but all had reappeared. Oh well!

My local clintons has gone to 75% off. Might pop down with dd2 in a little bit.
