Wow love the cat food photo. My C&C still showing n its way so not sure how that will compare. I am delayed in an airport. Should have taken off at 5.30, delayed until 1030. Does anyone know the compensation rules? Thanks

The vet has quoted £50 per month and possible op at a later date.It will be a nightmare getting the tablets down him.

I meant overactive, don't even know why I wrote underactive! I pay just under £15 for 30 tablets. My vets charges were similar to yours, but they are really good about doing prescriptions and they were the ones who actually suggested it.

My cat had this about 4 years ago, and after getting stabilised on medication (this was at a different vets, but luckily was covered by insurance at that point, it isn't now) which took a year, she then had one side of her thyroid removed. It did solve the problem, but I was warned the other side could go at some point, which it has done in the last year.

My cat is an old lady now, she is 18, so would never go through another surgery as she is too old. Luckily the tablet is now once a day (used to be twice a day when she had it a few years ago, was a nightmare), and she is also extremely placid, and whilst she doesn't like it, she is easy to get hold of so I can get it down her.

I had another cat, who sadly we lost last year, but he was a totally different kettle of fish, and I would never ever have been able to get tablets down him, so had he ever had this he would have had to be put to sleep, as I wouldn't even have been able to get hold of him, let alone medicate him. He was also a ripe old age when he went, 17, but had a massive tumour in his mouth.

Don't let you vets bully you into paying out a fortune to them for medication, there are definitely other options.
