Hiya. This is my first post. Sorry is its in the wrong place.
I've started studying through Ifs and have paid for the books and exam however feel that an online study tool would suit my learning style better.
The IFS charge £200 for 12 months access however there is a Groupon for a similar thing at £100 for all 3 modules.
(Can't paste the link at I'm a new user however it's through e-careers)
My question is should I stick with the IFS one or would they both have the same content?
I really don't want to complicate this process more than necessary however as I'm paying for this myself I would like to save some money.
Many thanks in advance.

We had an online study tool at a place I worked when I was doing my exams. I ended up spending more time messing about and kidding myself I was studying.
Personally I would suggest doing some mock exams, reading the book, sitting more exams and finding out where your weak spots are and foing more revision there.
Once you pass CeMap 1 the others are a doddle.
You can get mock exams off ebay - just ensure they are up to date ones as there have been some changes over the last year or 2.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks for that. I've seen the mock exams on eBay but just worried they weren't up to date or accurate and how would I know if they weren't?
I do like the idea of online mock exams as I've used them in the past however £200 plus all the exams fees is a lot on my current salary.
Really appreciate your honesty though and just want to get the first one done.
Do you think 6 weeks is a realistic timeframe? I've been looking at the book on and off for the last 3 months but now need to get my head down and just go for it.
Also are there any other websites you'd reconment to gain more knowledge or should I just stick to the book and buy mock exams?
Thanks again.0 -
Whats the difference between an online mock exam and a paper one? (other than you having to mark it yourself).
If its online, personally I mess about on facebook. Atleast if its paper I can close my laptop.
Cemap 1 is just boring. Personally I found after actually taking the time to read the book rather than race through it and understand as much as I could I passed it.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi Eggs!
Sorry for raising a (slightly) old thread!
Did you go down the Groupon route for the course?
I'm looking at a similar option at the minute and your opinion would be appreciated!
Cheers

Hi Rob
No I didn't go for the groupon as the cost doesn't include the exam required for the qualification so another £163 per exam to pay. I found the free daily emails from Archer Training a great help and bought one of the revision books for the first exam from there too which was quite useful and only £25. I've now passed all 3 and moving onto the equity release units. The books from IFS were fine and I also got some specimen papers for this year, Happy to share if you're interested.
As everyone else says. The first one is the hardest going as quite "dry" but the other 2 are ok.
Good Luck0
