Pure Gym

Has anyone ever joined on a hard-working offer? How long has it been before the gym actually opened?
I joined 2 weeks ago, left my old gym and there seems to be no sign of Pure Gym actually opening. I have emailed but no reply. On Twitter they say they can't say when it will open.
I will have to rejoin my old gym for a minimum of 3 months at this rate, which will negate any savings I will make by being with Pure Gym instead!

I don't use them, but on my way to work I noticed that after a initial period of about a month's roadside marketing they have opened and functioning. They offered about £13 per month pre opening offer and now it is I think £25 per month.SPC 08 - #452 - £415
SPC 09 - #452 - £2980 -
This pre opening thing is a very common trick they use, they say sign up for reduced price but they NEVER tell anyone when they are actually going to open it, they will sit on your money until they are good and ready to open and every time you ask when this gym is opening you will get a generic response of:
"Hi (insert name) Thank you for your question. Unfortunately i cannot confirm a opening date for (insert name of gym) but we are doing everything we can, please check back for updates. Is there anything else i can help you with?"
They say this every time on facebook, go check their page out if you do not believe me.
You should not have left your previous gym until Pure Gym was up and running, if you want your cash back you must call their customer services to get it, don't email them the customer service is non existant there.
There have been complaints of gyms not opening literally for 8 to 10 months after pre opening payments were made, and no offer of any compensation.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -
Oh! Hope it's not 8 months.... I left my old gym and was planning to join la fitness until I saw the Pure Gym offer. I had to give 3 months notice at the old place.
Pure Gym have also taken more money from my bank than they said, so I will have to phone them anyway.0 -
An update for anyone who reads this with the same issue. The gym is opening next week, so about a month after I joined. They take the next payment a month after the gym actually opens.
You really do have to phone- they don't seem to respond to emails, but maybe this was due to the time of year.
I hope it's Ok- it will be £35 less than Virgin Active which closed last year, and £87 cheaper than David Lloyd which is the one I really want to join but can't afford. It's even £19 cheaper than the council gym I just left which was horrible! If I don't like it at least there is no contract and I can go to LA Fitness instead.0
