Can anyone help me finmd this at a reasonable price??
I can't find it anywhere on the high street. Checked Boots, Holland and Barrett and smaller independant health food shops.
As I suffer rfom cold sores regularly, this has been recommended and I'd like to get it asap, I'm getting married in just over a week and probably will have an outbreak  Would like to be prepared just incase.
Thanks to all in advance

Hiya,
i too surrer from cold sores, except i get really big ones which go from the top of my lip (cupids bow) upto my nose. i went to the Dr's a few years ago and now I get "Aciclovir" tablets on prescription. theyre the same tablets you take for shingles and they do work. they're v stong and you take a course for 5 days. i must also recommend lavender oil. i put it on with my finger and as it's anticeptic it sores the pain and also makes the blister go down. i must admit my are always quite blistery and contray to what my mum always told me about picking scabs etc i find that picking it makes it go away a lot quicker!
hope this helps:rolleyes:0 -

My coldsores are weird though. When I use a product once it's ok, next time I try it, my coldsores spread
This has happened even with prescription treatments. Anyone else suffered the same way???

I realise this post is very old but I just found it by googling Lomabrit. I suffer from cold sores nearly every month, someone recommended the lip balm. May I ask how you got on with it and was it worth buying?
thanks0 -
I used to suffer from cold sores all the time - especially on holiday, in the heat, or in direct sun. I was told to take L-Lysine daily, (its an amino acid that inhibits the replication of the virus apparently!) and I have not had one single cold sore since I started taking them...two years ago.
Prevention better than cure and all that!

Thank you I will look in H&B next time im in town. I googled L-Lysine and it said that you can get it from your diet (spinach, nuts and seeds) maybe I am deficiant in it hence why I get them so often?
My friend said they used the Lomabrit lip balm every day and she hasn't had a cold sore since.0 -
I think Lomabrit is great you can get it from Your Health Food Store and also Eco Lips Medicinal they both have Melissa.0

Hi
I have had cold sores ever since I was little, a few months ago I came out in 3 massive ones and had just had enough. Spent the whole day Googling for tips on how to get rid of them. I also researched the Boots Electronic Cold Sore Treatment device and it had some good reviews. So I went straight to town and bought one, and also some L-lysine tablets and lipbalm from Holland & Barrett.
I have to say, that the electronic cold sore thing is the best £35 I've ever spent. Usually I wake up with gigantic blisters which then take a week to scab over and another week or two to heal. I used the electronic thing on them when they were still at the blister stage (you only need to do it two or three times a day but I did it a lot more times, it's not harming) and the very next day, the two smallest sores had shrunk a lot and after about 3 or 4 days all the cold sores were gone, they didn't form scabs. It was amazing. I also took the tablets during the outbreak and applied the lipbalm regularly so it was possibly a combination of all three things that did it.
I always get my cold sores in the same 3 places on my lips, and a lot of the reviews i read for the device said that it can even prevent them forming in that place again. And since then, I have exposed my lips to a lot of my usual cold sore triggers (especially sunlight, getting dry lips, and stress) and have only felt a slight tingle once. Soon as i felt the tingle i used the device and put on the balm, was expecting to wake up the next day with a whopping great cold sore but there was nothing whatsoever.
So I would really recommend it to anybody with cold sores. I'm just sorry I didn't buy it soonerMother, wife, scientist, analyst.

You can get LomaBrit at the HVA website (HVA. org. uk on the 'shop' page) This is about the only place in the UK now. If you are visiting Germany (where it is made) look for Lomaherpan. Same stuff, same price. NOTE THAT although it says 'face' on the packet, you can use it anywhere that you need to.0
