Well, at last we have made it.....mortgage free just in time for the new year!! We've made it sooner than planned due to the great advice on this website of making extra payments as and when we could.....and also to the competitions forum, a couple of cash wins have helped as well. So, 2015 is going to be easier for us and hope it is for a lot of you as well
to you all
Our Granddaughter, Caitlin Freya is now 7 years old
, growing up to be a lovely young lady and our Grandson, Findlay Ewan is 3 years old and still a lovable bundle of mischief
one of each, how perfect

Yay! Well done :T
We think we have 12 months left now so the countdown begins. Hubby had some redundancy money, plus we're cashing in an endowment and I've had some inheritance so this will pay a huge bulk of what's left, leaving about 10k which we think is doable in 12 months without too much hardship. This will shave about 6 years off. It will leave us with zero savings but With no mortgage and endowment payments to make it should build up again. We're 43 & 45 so I'm quite proud we've been able to clear it off young-ish. :beer:0 -

Well done! 12 month countdown begins - we would also do the same in your position, use our savings to finish off the mortgage. With no mortgage you would be able to rack your savings back up in no time. MF in your early 40's is fab! Keep it up! x"Don't underestimate the value of financial security"
