Brilliant, thanks! I was told that steam always reduces YNAB to £7.50 on one of the last few days of the sale so have been checking!

For those who already have the trial direct from YNAB (i.e. the non-steam trial), you will not receive a licence key. On your PC or Mac you will need to uninstall the existing version of YNAB, leave DropBox installed to keep your database available.

Then use steam to install the steam version of YNAB which will be fully activated.

EDIT: If you do want the key, you can follow the above and in Help > About you can copy the activation key to clipboard and paste it into notepad or something.
  • Just bought mine too for £7.49 :). I'd budgeted for £22.45 (full price less 25%) so buying it for £7.49 has saved me £14.96 already! :T:T.

I found opening a Steam account a bit of a faff but got it installed eventually.

I've also captured the activation key from within YNAB so has anyone any experience of installing a non-Steam version and using activation key? - I'm slightly concerned about only being able to access YNAB via Steam :(.

Have you installed YNAB on your PC via Steam?

Assuming you have... In YNAB, in the Main Screen select Help => About YNAB4 => a new smaller window should appear with a button "Copy Activation Key to Clipboard" - click this button.

Then , open a new dcument in, say Microsoft Word for example, then select "Paste" and the Activation Key will appear in the newly-opened document.

Save the document to a safe location.

    Hope this helps :)
