Me? Posting on a health and beauty forum- Unbelievable!!
I'm looking for advice on a problem I have, A couple of months ago I was the victim of a random assault, totally out of the blue never new the assailant etc etc, cant say anymore as trial coming up soon, my question is related to scars on my nose etc, there is an indent from bridge to side of nose where skin etc missing also scar on other parts of nose, there is no doubt scars are there for life but I'm confused as what to put on my nose, I asked pharmacist in Boots but he was quite young and gave me Dipro base? but that is not agreeing with me, I wondered if there was a cream or oil that might help it heal in a kinder way, I realise they will never go away but would love to see them be less obvious, I'm no George Clooney for sure but any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks

Not a cream or anything but my wife had a scar on her right cheek from an operation, she had a treatment where a little metal roller covered in tiny needles was rolled over the area, as the punctures are small they heal much better, she had a lot of sessions but now it looks almost the same as the other cheek.0

Im pretty sure that wouldnt work for me but thanks for the suggestionBORN TO RIDE - FORCED TO DRIVE

I had a deep cut to my forehead which needed stitches. I used Dermatix (from Boots) and the scar was barely visible after six months.
I was also told to massage it to stop the build up of scar tissue (obviously do this when it's passed the bloody painful stage).
I also put sunblock on it when I went out as the sun can make it worse.0 -
I had to have a carcinoma cut out from my cheek. The surgeon advised massaging it twice a day with bio oil to avoid a build up of scar tissue. My scar Healed very well and is hardly noticeable.
Ps yes he also said to use sun bloc.0 -
OP been on the receiving end of an assault, I required some dental work and nasal work right after the attack in hospital, but the first op on my nose was a failure due to swelling, the septum, bridge, turbinates(sp?) and upper nasal detachment from the skull.
The first OP repaired the alignment and repair a percentage of one turbinate that had ruptured, unfortunately the swelling after the attack and OP left me with a slanted nose after the alignment repair failed due to swelling re-broke my nose days later. so I got left with a consistent reminder daily of the attack whenever I looked in the mirror felt embarrassed when I had to have photo's taken etc.
My advice is to seek out your GP to refer you to a NHS maxillofacial surgeon, You'll need to be blunt open and honest in how the scar is affecting you mentally to get a referral to them.
the skin on the nose is quite thin scar tissue can add pressure like feelings to the nose, with tingling feelings due to the nerves being so close to the surface, some creams can be harsh to the skin and damage them which could result in nerve damage.
please seek out the GP for a referral if you have concerns about the appearance and the after affect mentally, press for a referral form GP to a MAXFAX facial consultant/surgeon.
My second OP last year was a 80% success, they got it re-aligned, but unfortunately I only have 3 remaining upper turbinates and the septum has almost no support so its deviated a little (but better than what it was before because they put in a stip of excess septum vertically where the nasal passages are devided and stitched it in and around the front of my nose), they took the lump off the bridge (preventing alignment) but due to shattering of the upper nasal bones I have a thin strip either side of the eye at the top of the nose that don't look right and cannot be fixed (seen 2 different surgeons).0 -

Thanks for your replies, Atrix that sounds bad and i'm a bit confused with the terminology, I had a pile of stitches across my nose etc and and silicone gel placed on it for several weeks after stitches out, As far as looks go I can get used to it though like yourself its a permanent reminder each time I look in mirror, also the cold weather is a killer its almost like having a headache in your nose if that makes sense, All the scars round my eyes etc healed up really well its just the huge scar/indent on bridge to side of my nose that really irks, have finished with hospital and nurses etc now got gp soon but would love to have something on face to ease the constant niggling pins needles etc, maybe give the oil a go though I have no idea what bio oil is, sounds like something you would put in the carBORN TO RIDE - FORCED TO DRIVE

yep http://www.lloydspharmacy.com/en/info/bio-oil
how deep is the indent? but I don't think my idea will work on the nose. I remember seeing an episode of embarrassing bodies where someone's cheek "varnished" they were able to inject their own fat to copy the other side to make it fuller.
Could you see a plastic surgeon to specializes in minimizes scars. I remember watching a programme with surgeons from USA, Korea and somewhere in Europe do operations that afterward you wouldn't believe they had anything wrong before. One method was lasers another skin peel.
I've got a couple of scars on my face, around my right eye that happened when I was 4, fast forward 30 years I don't notice but other people occasionally point them out.
There are some type of makeup that can be used I think they call it cosmetic camouflage or dermablend. It was like a filler/concealer/foundation sort of thing.
Found this as it will have more options:
