It happened to me as well today. If You are using Ad Block (or similar), it has to be paused in order to run Ngage. Same was with the Encrave.

You can whitelist ngage-media.com to get it to work without exposing yourself to all ads.

It's a bit annoying because it's one of those windows that hides your extensions when it opens but the whitelist option is pretty easy to find on the options menu of ad block plus.

On the off chance, has anyone bought a cheap handset recently, just for running Apps? Tesco is not showing the Alcatel previously mentioned, £20 approx. Many thanks.

I got all mine (used for Perk too) from Argos

£19.99 + you have to buy £10 EE top up. I guess you could use up the £10 if you need to on another phone or maybe sell it on ebay (its a code on the receipt)?

Try your local Asda as they have had the Huawei Ascend Y330 for £25 with no top up and it's unlocked apparently

No top up required if bought with Fastrack.

I already have a POP D1, which is ok for Swagbucks but suffers a bit with Perk. How much worse is the POP C1 compared to the D1?

There doesn't seem to be much in it apart from the Android versions (D1 4.4, C1 4.2) and the camera is better on the D1)
