Quick and silly question: does Swagbucks inform HMRC about your earnings? I know they do that in the US.
And if somebody knows of any other survey/microtask site that does (excluding mystery shopper, etc) please let us know.0 -
I'm surprised you say they do it in the US?
It's not like we gave out our NI numbers to sign up to SB, how would they even start to tell HMRC who we are? I don't know what US tax system is, I presume they have something similar to NI number as well?0 -

Don't know about UK. I could start a dedicated thread somewhere else but not all subforums here are populated by helpful individuals.0 -
Vouchers are not considered earnings in the UK so no declaration needed.0

Sorry, but that's definitely not the case. At work we received the following in some documentation from the NHS regarding research participants:
Researchers should be aware that vouchers and gifts in kind are treated in exactly the same way as earnings if provided in return for a service. The cash value of the gift is treated in the same manner as earnings.
A quick google will confirm that gift vouchers are seen as earnings. I think cashback sites are okay as the money you get back is deemed to be a discount on whatever you bought but for swagbucks you're definitely getting vouchers in return for a service - your time spent watching videos etc
Having said all that, I'd imagine that the amount we receive in vouchers is too small for HMRC to care about.0 -
I can see loads of 0 sb surveys on my gold dashboard...whats that all about?0

hi
does anyone know if surveys still count towards this "soiree" when they tell you "sod off but here's 1SB for your troubles" and then, to add insult to injury, they lonely buck doesn't get credited?0
