The penny has finally dropped.

Hi,
Well, as the title says, the penny has finally dropped. It's been coming for a while, but yesterday was the first time that it's really hit home.
A little it about the recent situation. I became seriously ill when I was 18, and have consequently had a huge amount of surgery. I'm now 29, 30 in a few months. I've had to go self employed due to my health. Then just as I was getting my head around that, my husband left for someone else.
I openly admit I suffer with severe depression. I m now on the appropriate medication, and have used a lot of hypnotherapy. I've let a lot of things go, and I can now see and think more clearly. Whilst I was at my worse with depression, I couldn't open post or retrieve voicemails. It's my warning that I'm going into a slump. I currently have around 4 months worth of post to open, and 40 voicemails on my phone.
I've recently had major surgery, then contracted viral meningitis. Whilst being so ill, I had to let two friends come in and help to look after me. It's the first time I've ever really let down the barriers. They have helped me to realise that how much I have in the house is not normal. I'm not a candidate for a hoarders programme, but I do have a huge amount of clutter.
I've joined up to a few challenges to help me on my way. These include payment a day, 1 debt vs 100 days, selling £1000 of stuff in 2015, and aiming for 20 NSD's in January.
I've recently met someone new. It's early days, but between meeting him and the hypnotherapy, I want to move on with my life and getting out of debt and clutter gone is a huge part of that.
I promise I'll stop talking soon. I've just accepted a place at Birmingham uni to study counselling and clinical hypnotherapy. It's something I've always wanted to do, and now have more of an understanding having experienced it for myself.
I've started a challenge on the challenge page called use it or lose it. It's all about decluttering and actually using those bottles with only an inch left in the.
If you've read this far you deserve a medal. Sorry to go on, but I felt it was really important to be totally honest here. Thank you for reading, it's much appreciated.

Your house full of clutter could be seen as a positive as you now have tonnes of things you can sell on Ebay :T
My house is virtually empty now, i have sold everything.

Thank you. I'm excited but terrified too. I've somehow got to fit it all in with going back to work and health issues, but it's something I really want to do, so I'll do what I need to do to make it happen.

Hi Steph,
Thank you. I am currently writing lots of lists, and also looking at pinterest to find what I can make to keep me focused. I'm good with visual things, charts etc to see how much I've done, and what I still need to do.
I know that right now I'm in the right frame of mind to change things. I'm also starting Slimming World again on Wednesday for the same reason - mindset.

Ok, so today is my first NSD. A friend wanted a coffee and chat, so he came to my house instead of going out to Costa. Lunch is leftovers out of the fridge. Dinner tonight will be a mixture of cupboard and fridge contents.
It's reasonably easy for me to o NSD's at the moment as I'm recovering from major surgery and viral meningitis. A lot of my time is being spent sleeping, reading, or watching boxsets.
Today I've managed to sort some bits for ebay, and unpack some parcels that have been in my hall for a week or so.
I know I've spent too much. There are some parcels that I'd forgotten all about. In my defence, I'd say some bits have been ordered during drug induce haze. I'm also guilty of realising I've run out of something, so getting my phone out and ordering straight away off Amazon or Ebay.
I've sold my old iPhone on Amazon, and now had an email to say my money is on it's way. That's £118 coming in and going straight towards a debt.
Can I get people's opinions please? Do you spread extra money across all debts, or throw it at one of the smaller ones to clear it and reduce the number of creditors? I've heard people do either option, but am interested to know what works for you.
Hopefully I'll be back later with an ebay and Amazon update.
Thanks for sticking with me.

The sensible approach is to go with paying off the highest interest rate one first. If however there is a smallish debt, I'd probably aim for that first to motivate myself.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes.
