Cleaning Laminate

Options
Good Evening All, we have laminate throughout our flat. Got ourselves a Dettol cleaning mop, the one where you spray the Dettol cleaner and then mop.Well all it does is leave smears and move the dirt around, even after we have hoovered. What do you use to clean your floors? My husband is banging on about us getting a steam mop. Whats your thoughts peeps? Many thanks.

Swish dry around the floor, vacuum round the edges.

Damp floor swisher, leave to dry..... that's all we do.

Dettol, antiseptic, this that and the other.... grrr, it is not needed, we are far too clean that's why bugs
are rampant in our lives..... Clean it with water,,,,,
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Currently I use flash floor cleaner diluted in a bucket and a vileda foam mop (the kind you squeeze the water out of the sponge with) as I cany stand traditional mop heads.

Lots of people on here recommend stardrops, you only need a small amount in a bucket of water.

Did your floor have any kind of coating on when you laid it? Perhaps it that that is smearing too?

We use a steam mop weekly and twice a day we use the flat vileda mops you can fill and spray, every other day a small amount of multi surface cleaner otherwise it's just hot water as it's mainly dust and cat fur I clean up

I have always used a swiffer with a dry duster, then go over with a damp mop.

(Hoover first if it's really bad :) )

Stardrops in hot water after hoovering. Dirt cheap but all of my friends comment on the cleanliness of my laminare and tiled floors and I certainly don't clean them every day, but then, outside shoes are not worn indoors.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

I use water with a glut of white vinegar and make sure I wring the mop out so it is just damp...the vinegar smell disappears after about five mins
  • Hi
We've got laminate flooring throughout the house ( too many kids and dogs for carpet!) and I use a steam mop every couple of days. Its really effective and doesn't leave the floor wet as this causes some warping of the boards.
My only tip is hoover thoroughly before steam mopping as you will leave rolls of dust/dog hair etc over the floor if you don't.

2 cups of water to 1 cup of vinegar. Wring out a microfiber cloth and wipe the laminate with this. Hoover first or you will get soggy clumps of dust bunnies.

    Microfibre mop fab:)
  • I use Pledge wooden floor cleaner with almost boiling water and a Vileda mop. I never have streaks.

I also have a Shark steam cleaner and I can't say I'm that impressed with it, I think it's more bother than it's worth :)
