There are lots of way to earn income from home. Most well-known ones usually bring in a pittance. You really have to look hard for ones where you can earn anything over a third-world wage.0

I don't know whether that's true, look at KatyKicker she makes no secret about how well she;s doing. So if you're determined to work hard i think Katy is an inspiration to us all.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

There is a thread on this, but I mystery shop. Having said that, it doesn't pay anywhere near as well as it used to. But luckily I started many years ago when companies gave mileage, parking, reimbursement and a fee. Many just give a reimbursement now and sometimes I've seen better discount vouchers than the reimbursement offered by some companies.
For example, I saw one recently which required you to spend £150 yet they were only going to give a £30 reimbursement. The item they wanted you to buy was quite specific and you were not allowed to return it.
I mystery shop to pay my mortgage and other expenses and this might become even more important in the next year as we are unsure about my husband's job. Its quite a competitive line of work, but once you've got experience it is possible to do it as a full time job and to earn a decent amount. I managed to earn over £3K in November (bit of a one off though, don't usually manage to earn this amount).0 -

Thanks very much SailorSam. :A
With regards to making money I use a wide variety of methods. Mystery shopping is a small part of it for me (I'm lazy and I don't like to leave my house :rotfl:), I also do surveys, content writing, blogging, writing on websites such as Bubblews, microtasking and anything and everything in between.
Almost all of the websites I've found via MSE. I was actually contacted by a member of MSE staff a few weeks back, regarding an article that they were planning. I provided proof of my earnings (£11,000 or so at the last count back then), along with more specific details of my methods. I'm not entirely sure if/when they'll be posting that.
I write on my own website, just about my experiences with the sites and sometimes I include payment proofs (if there is a simple way to show earnings, such as Clixsense and TopCashBack), but mostly I just talk about how much I've cashed out recently and how much I make over the year. I make around 5-10% of my monthly earnings now from other people who have used the few referral links that I have posted here on MSE, on the referrals board forum, or on my website, but I don't actively push those. I prefer to just give advice when people ask, regardless of whether the site has a referral scheme. I'm sure quite a few people here will back that up.
With regards to specific sites there would be tons to list and I'm writing this from my phone. Ones that spring to mind as regular and/or big earners for me include Clixsense, Crowdflower, TopCashBack, GlobalTestMarket, MyVoice, Swagbucks, iPoll, Valued Opinions, OpinionWorld and many more. If anyone wants the full list I'd be happy to send it when I am home and online next (1st or 2nd) so if you want to send me a PM so I don't forget I won't mind. I'm a bit forgetful at the best of time.
My main tip would be don't overlook the smaller sites. Some of my survey companies or websites send me work or surveys just once or twice a week. This is small fry at the time, sometimes just £1 or whatever, but it soon adds up. GlobalTestMarket has made me around £700 in the time I've been with them (a couple of years on and off) but lately I'm making £30+ every single month, without fail. I also open a couple of surveys at a time, to try and ease the boredom, but only ever one from each survey company at a time. The smaller sites soon add up over the year. Also, if you are doing this as your 'job' then you'll need to register as self employed. HMRC advised me that if you are completing the odd YouGov, and earning £50 now and then (these are their exact words) that it wasn't a problem but much more than that is considered for 'commercial purposes' and should be declared. I am registered as self-employed and pay voluntary class 2 NICs, I also have to pay any relevant tax depending on the years earnings and any expenses (new laptop, etc). It seems a lot of people are under the impression you don't have to declare this money, but you should be declaring any extra money you make in life that isn't a gift from someone. Cashback doesn't have to be declared on personal purchases.
At the end of the day you won't become a millionaire sitting at home but if you have lots of free hours, or even just a few, you can make money. You may not always be getting minimum wage per hour but while I'm online I'm also doing chores in my home, baking, cooking, and spending time on the interests that I enjoy more (knitting, reading, general lazy hobbies), and when my husband is off work (he's a shift worker) I get to spend as much time as I want with him. Also if I leave all of my surveys for one time of the day it is quite easy to complete them all in under 2 hours, and usually for £15+. I have strong demographics and have built up a lot of survey sites that know I provide genuine answers. This also gets me a lot of focus groups (mostly online) which generates more money too.
This is becoming quite rambly but if anyone has any specific questions I'm happy to help via PM, as I don't want to take over the original OPs thread. I'm happy to help as much as I can regarding self-employment tax questions, blogging or even just specific websites. I would start a thread but don't want to look like I'm a know-it-all, because I don't know it all

I wondered how you eased the boredom of completing all those surveys. I do a few each day, but I can't stand to do more than that. It would be nice if a few more of these companies were more inventive, like Field Agent offers a different way of MSing and VoxPopMe is much better than loads of typing! For me, I need to change up my activities to keep my interest. But I agree with Katy, it's good to be able to intersperse chores with home earnings. I find limiting my time makes me more productive. I also run my own business from home, so I'm only looking for bits to fit around that. This is where MSing works well for me, as when I'm out visiting clients- I can find MS visits nearby.Minimalist

I would recommend valued 0pinions too, as Katy was saying. As I am out during the day, I miss a lot of them, but I still manage to cash out 10 pounds every other month. (It may not sound like a lot but over a year...!) I had to spend 2 years to get 40 pounds on 1poll though, that took a loooong time and I don't think I will bother again.
I also do bits here and there on ebay where I can, I managed to sell some bits from our wedding on a bridal forum... it all helps!:rotfl:0 -

The key to One Poll is to log in at least twice a day as surveys (which are all very short) often crop up during the course of the day. You could wait forever for an email from them - but if you log in several times a day it is actually possible to cash-out within about 4/6 weeks - but it is a pain in the !!! keep logging in, and I often forget.:rotfl:0
