And that's a quote from my OH so it must be true!
I graduated in 2010, still live with my parents. OH graduated in 2012 and lives in a rented apartment with his brother. We've been together over 9 years (10 in April) and I am so ready to move in together!
I currently have £5483.57 of debt on two credit cards as follows:
Barclaycard - £494.88 (interest free until March 2015)
Halifax - £4988.69 (not sure when this becomes chargeable as can't find how to check but it's not 2015)
My plan is to pay both of these off and to start saving for two things; firstly an emergency fund and secondly the deposit on a house.
I wanted to start this diary to share my debt free - and savings - journey with people who would understand.

Welcome to diaryland DD265.
Good luck on your journey.

Thanks Mrs R! I'm both looking forward to and dreading it in equal measure.
I also want to lose weight. I don't know how much exactly; I train a lot at the gym so do have quite well developed muscles and that skews what I possibly ought to weigh. I will need to work it out on body fat % really. For now though I'm trying to lose almost 8kg and will then re-assess.
Today has provided a small setback; my horse needs both feed and supplement delivering in January. Giving him up is not an option (he's a pensioner by horse standards and unfortunately not 100% well) and to be fair I did know that these expenses were coming somewhere.
I managed to get his supplement with free delivery, £5 off and £3.59 cash back via Quidco. It still came to £59.80 but that will last roughly 6 months.
The feed unfortunately there is no discount to be had. I had the choice of £123.50 plus £5 delivery or buying another bag, taking it over £150, and no delivery cost. I decided that the first option left me £5 in credit at the end of my budget, and the second option left me £20 down at the end of my budget so went with the first option. This will last approximately 4-5 months.
Still - it's pay day tomorrow and I get to pay £100 (Christmas money) off my Barclaycard as an additional payment. Looking forward to it!0 -
Happy shiny new diary

Thanks Beanielou

Well it is pay day today (will I ever not get excited about seeing that payment into my account?!) so I was able to use the £100 I was given for Christmas and make a payment against my Barclaycard.
Barclaycard - £394.88
Halifax - £4988.69
On Friday my direct debits will go out. It's a minimum payment to the Halifax card (£49.89) but £150 against the Barclaycard. I'm looking forward to that!
My aim is that the Barclaycard will have a £0 balance by the end of January, or at least when the final direct debit goes out at the beginning of February. I get paid on the 30th and the DD would go out on the 2nd probably, so I don't know whether paying on the 30th would register in time for the DD on the 2nd to be cancelled. May be less hassle just to wait, unless of course my sales do really well and I can pay it off earlier.0 -
Well it's a good job I'm working from home tomorrow and therefore can get up at 8.30 instead of 6 (although perhaps I should get up at 7 and go to the gym!) because I'm only just about to start getting ready for bed.
Had a productive evening though listing things for sale and have had some interest (and one sale about to go through!). Still got so much to list and also non-collectors items to go on eBay too.
Managed a NSD today. Will be a spend day tomorrow as I'll need to go to the post office, but the buyer is paying postage so I shan't count that!0 -
I made £42.35 today (after PayPal fees and postage) so I'm chuffed. I have another couple of committed sales but won't count those until they've paid.
It was also a no spend day and I only did about 10 miles in the car compared to the normal 74 I'd do to get to the office and back.
Unfortunately tomorrow may be pricey; my horse has slipped on ice and he is very very sore; likely a pulled muscle. Going to reassess in the morning but I think I'll be getting the vet out to prescribe some stronger pain relief than the herbal stuff he's on at the moment. That's likely to be a £45 bill but I can't and won't leave him hurting, poor boy.
I'm hoping I might be able to buy some off a friend - at least there are no call out/examination fees then. 0 -
Didn't get the vet out for various reasons but still upped the painkillers and that's not costing me anything. I certainly wouldn't leave him in pain just so I didn't have to fork out but obviously I'm happier if it doesn't cost me a fortune!
I did spend £2 from my purse yesterday - a bag of carrots from the feed merchants but I still have the £20 that I took out on Sunday. I am allowing myself £20 to do whatever I want with a week (has to include any groceries/toiletries/treats etc) but at the minute what I want is to save it up.

I spent most of my £20 but didn't go over so I am pleased. One week down. :rotfl:
I am getting "kicked out" of home - basically been given a deadline of the end of the year to get a place of my own. Parentals said I was getting old (ha!) and it was time to move out. I do agree with them and that was what OH were aiming for this year anyway. It somehow makes it all a bit more real though.
My money-making is going rather well; just need to buy some postage before I can update the totals. I may need to hold some back to pay for horse's treatments though as although I pay for two a month by standing order, he has his 2nd one from January tomorrow. I'd rather get into a situation where I have several treatments paid in advance (we were in this October/November and used them in December) than be behind in my payments.
£35 a pop but honestly, she made the world of difference to him and he was able to go out in the field for a couple of hours this afternoon - unthinkable on Tuesday night! I'm not going to decide until she's seen him tomorrow and advised as it may be he won't need another treatment then for another fortnight.0 -
Well done on your spends. Moving out is a good thing,I keep telling our kids this and they keep coming back.

I hard when you have animals and they are in pain, vets and medication is so expensive, hope all goes ok. xx0 -
