im a book lover - and i dont get on with electronic books - kindles tablets etc
i like a good wander around a book shop im always looking for that perfect book store - think shop around the corner in you've got mail - nice wide aisles are a bonus especially if you can get a buggy down there
friendly lots of book knowledge all ranges and types of books
i hate it when i ask a member of staff a question and they dont know the answer and dont offer to find it or anything
my kids also love bookshops their fave has age ranges stacked by height - liittlest people books the furthest down - they have big bean bags and armchairs floor mats where the kids can readThe only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
I am no longer a bookshop person. The last place in which I lived did not have one so I learned to do without. I do buy books but very specialised ones. For my trash reading it's the kindle.
But I have just moved to a place that has a really good bookshop. Brilliant themed shop window displays and a monthly promotion tied in to a book club. I think they may convert me. And if they had coffee the conversion would be all the quicker.0 -
I love a good bookshop, and spend most of my (left-over) cash on books. I don't like using Amazon for a number of reason, mainly because they've got a very bad reputation over not paying taxes and attempting to bully smaller publishers. I like to support local businesses, local jobs and see writers receive a fair wage for producing those books I love.
I don't think the days of booksellers on the high street of over, Waterstone's are doing better than they have in a long time, and only last month opened a new store, where one had been closed when HMV had owned them.
Like others said I like knowledgeable staff (Newcastle and Durham Waterstone's are amazing), a good range of stock (nothing turns me off faster than shelf after shelf of books that I could find in Tesco's), and a good coffee shop (there's a lovely second-hand bookshop in Alnwick that also has a roaring fire during the winter.)0 -
I haven't been to a bookshop in years but I tend to get my books from the library.
However when I go in the librarian will very often recommend me a book as she has got to know my reading tastes
I would love the idea of a book club especially if they read non mainstream books.0 -
I do go into discount bookshops, as they occasionally have treasures and books and items suitable for giving as presents.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

In Bath we have both Toppings and Mr B's - both excellent bookshops where the staff will relish being able to make suggestions based on books you've enjoyed.0
