Lenses / Eye test

I paid £15 for the initial contact lens assessment about 4 yrs ago. All further aftercare and annual assessments have been free since. It's saved me hundreds of pounds. I'm using identical lenses to when I was a specsaver customer and have had no cause to believe that there was any difference in the testing/assessment.
The contact lens assessment is different to an eye-test. These still need to be kept up-to-date.
Fair enough, your wife might be so comfortable with her current arrangements that she chooses not to switch, but why not show her the figures and let her see what that loyalty is costing her? Ultimately it is her sight, therefore her decision.0 -

How are you getting free contact lens aftercare?0 -
Asda say there is no charge, whilst I know the initial fee includes a year's aftercare, they've not charged me for the follow-up assessments.0

If I buy lenses from places such as Feel Good Lenses or Asda, do I get solution provided with the lenses?0
-
I've always used daily disposables, so solution isn't involved for me, but I suspect you'd have to buy that separately.0

According to Asda's website their sight tests are £15 or free if entitled under the NHS. Here in Scotland the NHS would wipe the floor with us if we dared to do any contact lens work on our GOS contract so Asda in Scotland (admitedly there only are something like 4 of them) would have to charge the customer £15 or give away their time to do an aftercare for free. I'm not sure how the English/Welsh NHS would react to contact lens checks being included in their funded sight tests.0

If you;re referring to my post Glaswejen, I'd always kept my eye check and contact lens assessment separate. I've had no NHS treatment at a a branch of Asda so far, this will change as my local optometrist has retired and I don't like what I've seen of the heavy sell tactics of his successor, nor the fact that most of the previous staff have left.0
