You could eat healthily on a third of that amount, less if you had to. Why so many takeaways? You're getting your children into bad habits, they won't thank you later.

If you're doing a main weekly shop why do you need to do another with the £40?

to be honest i dont really know where the money goes - if i go in for one thing i end up coming out with a bag of on things that will be eaten in no time.

my maths is bad, but I think that works out at £170 a week if you only have one takeaway and £220 a week for two takeaways.

Why do you need £40 for during the week? do you pop to shop for one thing and come out with ten every night? you really shouldn't need 'top-ups' during the week. bread can be frozen to be taken out as needed.
and as for Takeaways every week.................not healthy for a start and to spend a hundred pound on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can I suggest a book for you? The Takeaway Secret by Kenny McGovern. some brilliant recipes in there and they can all be replicated on a budget which should save you a lot of money (like £35 to £40 on a takeaway for five people). plus you can make it much healthier than your local fast food joint!
  • About £80 all in for a week with 3 kids under 9. We bake our own bread and eat quite healthily. Aldi and Tesc0s for us too and occasionally Farmfo0ds.

OK, so I work that to £140 per week, or £560 every 4 weeks?

If thats the case, just be practical and don't go stupid in reducing too quickly and do it in stages. Why don't you try and cut by £40 a week, so thats saving £160 every 4 weeks. If you can do more, than great! This gives you £100 a week. This should be easily achievable and serve delicious and nutritious meals, snacks with your quota of fruit and veg.

Start by making a note of everything you already have in. You'll probably be very surprised by how much you do have in. Once you've done this, then make a meal plan out for 6 days and hopefully, you'll just need a top up of fresh items. Treat yourself to 1 takeaway at £10 on that 7th day.

Do you have allergies, fussy eaters etc. What are the ages of the family members? Etc.

Write down all them meals you like and start making a regular meal plan. Shop online every couple of weeks and utilise voucher codes to cut costs further. Once a week, try and source a *free* meal of items you already have in, such as egg and chips or saut! potatoes etc.

Use frozen or tinned fruit/veg. Freeze reduced milk, bread or protein items.

We get ourselves caught up in todays society of buy buy buy (bad habits!) and more often than not, we end up buying the same items weekly and generally throw away the same items too. It happens! The main thing is, is that you've realised that you need advice to cut down, and you've come to the right place.
