Ten hours of trauma, grief and the occasional threat of violence, without food or rest apart from ten snatched minutes to get a drink of water and have a pee, consoling owners as they wept over their dead dog or cat - with only another lowly-paid ten-hour shift to look forward to in a few hours' time.

And you lot are sl*gging off and abusing strangers online over GAMES and game-store helpline unavailability. On Boxing Day. Seriously?!?
Is it really worth this petty squabbling match? Really???
If so; please accept my condolences, I'm sorry for you. But that's nothing to do with a game, a helpline or an internet forum.

Happy new year. x
Just because you value animals and don't value games doesn't mean everyone is like that. I'd guess there are plenty of people who consider gaming important but couldn't care less about dead pets.0 -

No, I DO very much like and value gaming. I just don't feel that it is so very vital to basic well-being as to justify the online abuse of others. That is all I had to add.
Every good wish to you, regardless of your feelings towards pixels, data-capacities or sentient beings. x0 -
Regardless of the squabbling on here, this has been mentioned on the news.
It appears to be a DDoS type attack - similar to the one which a certain kitchen guy launched on this forum. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

There's a few on MSE like you who chose to concentrate on belittling peoples replies and ignore the OP's problem and just slag off others replies. When taken to task you chose to ignore and not reply.0 -

I read in the daily mail today about all the devastated children and adults who couldn't use their new toy on xmas day.
Devastated is how that poor lady in Glasgow must be, seeing her daughter and parents die in front of her,and have to go home to all the presents she had ready for them at xmas.Devastated is losing people in accidents and through illness,or even worse, murdered.
Depressed, lonely ,ill and miserable is how many old people will have spent xmas day.As they do other days.Maybe even cold and hungry,as are those who are homeless or living in extreme poverty.
Disappointed , yes,but devastated, and all those other expressions we use far too freely without just cause is not the term I would use for a child who probably already has many other presents they could turn to on xmas day.Patience does not seem to be a word that is used these days.
What has happened to the once true spirit of xmas.? Caring about others ? Making sure some lonely person knows you care?It saddens me .0 -
Froglet, VERY well put, I was just about to say it myself.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0

You don't need to go online to play games though, it's just an added perk.
The bbc report (on the telly news) made it sound like the consoles were unplayable.0 -
And there's me thinking it was a shop assistants job to help and advise people.
Lord protect us from superior techy bores.
It must have made your day when you could tell those disgusting creatures of customers " I could have told you so"
Forgive me, but why would I be dealing with said disgusting creatures - I did after all clearly state "I know I've been gone from the gaming retail sector for a while". It was for a good while my job to advise & help people, that's why as I pointed out I pretty much told them what to do to ensure Christmas Day went smoothly. I did my time in that world and trust me, if I had a pound for every time I dealt with people who ignored advice I'd have been able to retire at 18 years of age after one christmas working in games retail! Instead for my sins I did 8 of them & every year spent time ensuring parents were enpowered with all the knowledge needed to ensure their kids Christmas went smooth. Wise man once told me their advice was free & only cost when the advice wasn't taken - so with that in mind, I went out my way to advise people PROPERLY.
Sounds pretty harsh, but ultimately this is a problem with people not understanding the basic fact that cheap is not always the best option. See you can buy a games console from a supermarket probably a few quid cheaper than your local Game or independent retailer, but that's not going to give you anything other than that few quid in your pocket. Buy it from a specialist retailer though and you will, in theory, have access to people who know what they're talking about and can give you advice on your new purchase. That's worth way more than the few quid you'll save buying the thing from a place which has ultimately couldn't tell you the slightest difference between an Xbox and a Playstation other than the obvious.
Can't see why you're so distressed by someone ultimately thinking people need to step back & see how dense they're being - I mean complaining because some servers got hacked, really? That's typical of the modern world though, people with priorities way out of whack complaining about little things which are ultimately unimportant & the media blowing it out of proportion.
(Incidentally, that's nothing compared to my rant on the irony of the BBC's coverage, whereby they showed an Xbox 1 exclusive playing on a TV whilst holding a PS4 controller. But that would also be somewhat similar to "complaining about little things which are ultimately unimportant")Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0
