As regards supermarkets you will find that not all the large Sainsburys stores are open, same may go for Tesco, Morrison's etc, check the respective websites.0

According the website most stores are shut with some exceptions but you have to look for a poster instore to find out.

i worked in retail 35 years ago we fought hard to get bank holidays off as a right,sadly thats all gone out the window now some supermarkets inside the m25 have even opened today0

I won't be going anywhere near the shops today but know most of them are open, I find it a real shame that lots of families now only get the one day together as customer demand means retail shops are open for such long hours. My DS is 17 and got a part time job in October, he is working from today until Sunday one day off then in again all over new year, no extra pay Sundays, bank holidays are expected as part of normal working conditions0
