I always thought putting a ball in the birds bath stopped it freezing completely? Heavier than a ping pong ball so it doesn't blow away but not so heavy it sinks - the ball is supposed to bob around and leave some areas unfrozen.

Sorry if someone has already mentioned this or if you've already tried it - just popped on to see what's happening.

    hiya Onmyway :hello:
    thanks for that :A
have used that method before & sometimes it has worked :)
but if we've had a severe frost
the water just freezes up around the ball!

Just heavy frost here FF but won't be venturing out for a while!

Heard from DS1 at last, he was travelling to Vietnam. He is visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels today. A boy on his tour is flying to Singapore tomorrow which will be scary.
Hope there are some WEMs about today.

Morning peeps have come home to try and thaw out it is freezing out there.. The way those poor workers have been treated is appallng they were all in a meeting this morning there is another this afternoon . The upshot of this morning is there is no money to pay them at the end of the month and the subcontractors can go sing as well they will have to find money themselves to pay any staff they have. Can see why city link put out the statement when they did if they had done it earlier they would have had a riot on there hands and no parcels would have been moved. So those poor peeps wont even be paid for the work they have put in

It sure is chilly here! No snow yet but ground is frozen.
That's great you've heard from your son sheils :) So glad he is ok xx
Rose, it's such a shame about city link. There's always someone at Xmas time losing their jobs. :( I wonder what will happen to all the parcels due to be sent out?

I've just watched a nice Xmas film now I need to get something done!
Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!
  • Rose, been talking to a girl in work who's husband is a manager for City Link South Wales, she said the first they heard about it was the news on Xmas Day. Awful way to treat people.
    Let's be happy!!

Wingo anyone expecting a parcel has to track it online then go to their nearest depot and collect it. I know while I was at ours this morning nobody turned up to claim one most peeps will be back at work today. God knows what will happen to the ones not collected or claimed back by companies. Also heard on news workers employed directly br city link are to be paid till the end of the month. problem is they have to claim it from admistrators through a government form which they did not have. They will not have wages directly from city link at the end of the month

Yes and it was from a news report. Someone from inside leaked the news they were not told directly

Goodness another plane problem a Virgin Atlantic flight to Las Vegas had to turn back to Gatwick because of landing gear problems it had to fly for ages down south to burn of fuel and had to do a bumpy landing. Airport is now shut to other flights:eek:
  • There is defiantly something dodgy going on with these planes...
