Hi everyone
Can anyone suggest a reputable and reasonably priced car hire firm?
A young couple are coming to visit here next month for a week and are flying into Belfast International Airport.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Kind regards
Claire

Thank you .....you have been most helpful.
I tried one of your sites but the problems is this young driver has only held the full license for 2 months although he is 27. Some car hire firms insist you have held a full license for at least a year.

  • Hi Clare,

    Welcome to Ulster!

I would recommend National Car Rental. I have done quite a few searches over the past year (as I dont have a car) but they are always cheapest and friendly. Keep in mind of the extra charges (all rental firms). Airport locations are more expensive than city centre locations.

If you stay in Belfast, it might be a better idea to rent from a city centre location. Most of them are easy to walk to from a city centre/south belfast hotel and will save you 1. a day rent, 2. a surcharge. Busses are going every 10 mins from the airport.

    Good luck!

Just another tip: there is no point in contacting rental firms when they state this on their website. Their insurer won't cover it so they wont do it.

A Word Of Caution When Using The Autoreservation Site That Is Sometimes Championed On This Site.

I Have Been Charged More By The Hire Car Firm Than Which Was Quoted By Autoreservation.com

Sadly, They (autoreservation) Do Not Answer The Phone And Take Weeks Upon Weeks To Reply To Emails (if Ever) And Sort Problems Out. I Am Currently Fighting For Approx £50 Owed From August!

Golden Rule - Consider The Amount You Are Saving And Whether It Is Worth It For The Sake Of Customer Service. I Wish That I Had Gone Elsewhere - It Has Ruined The Holiday.

If you book with National, when you get to the desk before everything is printed up ask is it possible to have a free upgrade, i do this all the time and 7/10 times they let me have a higher class of car. this has happened not only at the international airport but, east midlands, bristol, luton and many others
