Be sure she understands the implications of entering into this contract.

The termination payment will be final and compensation for loss of employment and she will have to acknowledge no other payments are sought.

Who is to take care of tax arrangements?

Gosh, they were desperate to get rid of her then! I guess they have assessed that there was less to lose with this compromise than to have her coming back.

It is strange especially as she told them she wasn't going back.

    She understands.

She cannot possibly go back as her position is untenable as they have undermined her authority for a start and her team was hard enough to manage before this. Her team has already been disciplined for spying on her a couple of years back.

The cash she is getting is equivalent to what she would get from a successful tribunal, broadly speaking so she was happy to accept it.

The company is handling the tax side of things.

Overall she is happy with the end result but not the way she was treated but wants to draw a line under it and get on with her life and the new baby.

Most compromise / settlement agreements have confidentiality clauses and a requirement not to "bad mouth" the company (and hopefully vice-versa). Some companies put a high value on this and enter into agreements mainly for those reason.

Its not that strange, the MD see's it slightly from afar and decides that for a few grand its not worth their time or hassle in having to deal with discord between employees and possibly a tribunal etc.

Its very clever of the employer
