Replacing steam iron cord

I have a good steam iron which cost a bomb a few years ago. However it catches on my ironing board and over time the cord that connects the iron to the water reservoir has frayed to a point where we're down to just the rubber. Does anyone know of an electrical store in Belfast that would replace it for me? Any help very welcome

To be honest I cannot see an electric store replacing a cord. They will just tell you to buy a new iron. Most would be frightened of tampering with it and it perhaps blowing up or something and you suing them.
In fact I will say be very careful as it could blow anyway if down to the inner rubber bit.0 -
The fabric cord is not there for electrical safety. So, if the exposed rubber is he white of the flex, don't panic. If you are seeing the inner blue or brown wires, then worry. It is easily replaced by anyone with half an ounce of electrical experience.Always overestimating...0

The exposed bit is black flex and is (so far) unmarked mainly cos I stopped ironing last year lol. So def no exposed wires or anything.0

To stop it getting any worse you could probably find a cheaper version of this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Laurastar-509-7808-525-Steam-Cord-Holder/dp/B00FUCDL18/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1419165252&sr=8-4&keywords=iron+cord+holder
I had one many years ago which actually came with the ironing board so I don't know how common they are.0 -
I've just found this - much cheaper, in fact I'm thinking of getting one myself!

If it's just worn on the outer braid, wrap with duct tape and carry on!0

Wouldn't be a difficuly job for you to do yourself if you are capable of wiring a plug, you can buy the cable in lots of places, eg
Depending upon the iron it may be difficilt to get into it.
I've got an electric knife which sometimes i have to 'jiggle' the cable to make work, it must be coming loose inside the knife. But there are no screws to take it apart, perhaps the iron is the same.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Try the hardware shop on Belmont Road BT4. I cant remember the name but its near the top end on the right going country bound.
Hope this helps

It's not the electrical cable she has a problem with!0

Mines is a Tefal steam generator and has the same problem outer cover on the hose that carries the water/steam frayed, i just wrapped insulating tape round it, seems to be OK and its been on a couple of years. Not pretty but as the iron cost so much it will have to do.0
