What Small DFW Thing have You /Will You Do Today? Sat 28.7.07

Hello lovely DFWers - old timers and newbies. IT'S THE WEEKEND!
:j :j :j

Hypno - I hope you don't mind me starting this?
Here is your usual inspiring comment for the thread. I cannot take the glory for this. :)

"When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important."

Hear hear!

So what has everyone done today then?

    My DFW things today are:

    * Two lots of washing (possibly three by the end of the day) dried on the line in the bright & breezy sunshine.

    * Had a free lunch on Boots points in town....a houmous and veggie wrap with an orange, mango & lime juice drink  This was instead of wandering into my favourite pub for one of their lush Thai veggie wraps & spicy wedges = double

    * Had two free drinks at hairdressers - they are very hospitable in there!

    * Got some clothes & a bag for work - ALL half price from my favourite shop (new favourite!) and he stamped my "loyalty" card more times than he needed to so I got a £10 off voucher for the next time I am in there. (Needless to say I will *not* be venturing in there before August's pay day!)

    * Will do QuidCo searches and Piggy Comps soon.

    * We are having a HM spicy potato & lemon casserole tonight - a very cheap but delicious meal, all made from scratch.

    * Got a pair of Caterpillar sandal/flip flop type shoes for less than half price - my others are crumbling at the heel and I am not sure if I can get them resoled? (I will ask though.)

    * Got a return bus to town rather than take car and fork out on expensive parking - or worse get a taxi home. (Please don't take offence taxi73....just realised I am speaking harshly of your livelihood!)

    * Checked online banking & updated spreadsheet.

    * Will stay in tonight.

Thanks LA - I knew there was something I had forgotten to do!!

My DFW small step today is to have a lazy day - not go far so not spend anything unnecessarily!!

Also, not to hoover or iron, thereby saving electricity :rotfl:

Finally, as usual, I will endeavour not to increase my debt in any way, and will stay positive!!

Have a good weekend everyone xx

    Things for today:

Put out washing to dry outside.
Swept a few crumbs on the kitchen floor with a small brush and pan instead of getting the hoover out.
Tidied up my purse a bit - reorganised coupons, receipts etc.
Tiedied up my coupon mini folder - putting coupons in month order to be used first.
Used up £10 of money off coupons which expire at the end of this month when we did our monthly shopping today.
Got a 15 point receipt from last Saturday added to my card at Tescos.
Had homemade soup for lunch which stupid DH made a few days ago but has never touched.
E-mailed a buyer their Ebay invoice which I've been meaning to do for days (but they did e-mail to say they would be on holiday when the auction finished).
Put together a few more things and took photos to prepare for next Ebay 'cheap' listing day.

    That's all so far.

Today I'm with Hypno and I'm saving electricity by not doing housework - actually I do that rather too often...
I found birthday pressie for my mum at half price in the sales which I nearly bought elsewhere yesterday for the full amount so I'm feeling very lucky.
I posted ebay parcel walking to post office instead of taking the car.
This evening we'll be kite flying and maybe chips at the beach so not a big spend there (cheaper than the Harry Potter option).
