I would get a builder round to the daughter and take the windows out. She can have them back when she has paid for them.0

What did she think being a guarantor for the loan was? That she was just providing a character reference? The clue really is in the name
Complain as you've nothing to lose but in reality it almost certainly going to be a case of having to chalk it up to experience and learn to read what you are signing.0 -

As I said earlier, I genuinely believe that people don't realise the ramifications of being a guarantor. And that they do think it's just like giving a reference. No debt left now. Saved £111 in our sealed pot last year. And £272.13 this year! Also we have £2300 in savings. :j
SPC #468Target £250 for 2015.

Once again thanks for the sarcastic replies , there are some people in life who have never had a loan / credit card or the likes , so when faced with a pushy salesman in the house are easily lead by something completely alien to them.
Yes i know too well myself that reading things first is an absolute must but cut a bit of slack for those who are completely unaware of debt / borrowing etc etc ....0 -
Yes it can happen. ^^^ I am sorry for what happened to your MIL. Not sure she can get out of it though. Sorry. No debt left now. Saved £111 in our sealed pot last year. And £272.13 this year! Also we have £2300 in savings. :j

Come off it. Most of the comments you take exception to are simply saying that it is most unwise to be party to a guarantor loan. It is your sister in law who you should be taking to task for the predicament your mother in law is in.0

Come off it ..... ???
Another one who seems to forget there are people who have never had the need to understand finance / loans / etc because they have had their ship in order all of their lives , and then come across this kind of thing .
Maybe because she has never had the need to join a money saving website puts her above you !0 -

Is there a reason why her daughter has a brand new set of windows - I am guessing they cost a substantial four figure sum - and is not paying for them?
Perhaps she knew from the start and was happy to have a guarantor so that she would not have to pay for them?
Did she know the deal at the time even if the MIL didn't? Perhaps she could have explained it to the MIL at the time in a manner she would understand? She must have clocked that her MIL didn't understand it ....... or else she did clock it and was happy to go ahead anyway .....
Did the daughter deceive the MIL more than the salesman?0
