Salaries will be paid monthly in arrears?

Can someone please advise what the following means

"Salaries will be paid monthly in arrears"

I am due to start with Thomas Cook on 29th December and the payment date is last working day so next pay date would be 30th Jan does this mean I am going to receive nothing until end of Feb or will I actually get 29th Dec - End of Jan at end of Jan?

you will get the 3 days you work in december, paid at end of Jan. your first full pay packet will be end of Feb

    That's how i read that
You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *
  • from any job that i have had in the past, which has been paid monthly in arrears it means you work a month and then get paid at the end of said month after working it, iyswim.

So, based on what has happened to me in the past and currently, you should get paid on 30th Jan for everything you have worked in December, and January and then from feb for your ordinary monthly wage.

You'd receive 2 days of pay for December and full January on the last day of January.
If not sure still, I'd suggest to ask them to clarify.

Possibly with difficulty, but that's the way I've been paid since 1974. It's also the way benefits will be paid once Universal Credit rolls out fully.

It happened to me twice in my working life, the first time was very hard and we had to borrow a bit from family and friends to see us through and it took nearly a year to repay and get back on our feet. The second time was far easier as the company I worked for gave us nearly six months notice {in the early spring} so we were able to budget through the time and put some by each time to see us through.
I am glad now that I have been retired for a number of years and no longer have to worry on that score.

What makes you think that it will not happen? It's perfectly normal and reasonable.

It means you will work for one full pay period in this case a month and then receive your first pay.....the end of January as stated in the email.
