  • Hi everyone,
I'd like to sign up too please.
I tried this in 2013 and managed my target (even though i only started in the summer) but it was mostly a hobby then.

This year i have something to work towards! I am 25 and live at home with my dad but he intends to retire in 4 years and downsize (without me) and as i have a dog it would be much easier to buy than rent. I currently have a bank loan of £11,400 which i got to pay for my legal practice course. Unfortunately i never managed to get a training contract and become a solicitor so i am a administrator for a local charity (which i love). However my salary is only £13,000 so moving out isn't going to be easy!!! Overtime has been good the last 2 months but i am expecting it to dry up completely very soon :(

I need to pay off my £11,400 loan and save a minimum of £7,000 deposit towards a flat. Quite a challenge. The worst part is that there is a chance my dad may be made redundant which may shorten my timeframe to 1 year!

Anyway i already sell a lot on Ebay as i had a really HUGE clearout in the summer and i am trying to shift it now but i keep running out of listings and paying for listings defeats the point for me as it is mostly cheap little items. I may do a car boot sale or two when the weather gets warmer.

I already use shopitise, clicksnap, roamler, checkoutsmart and clic and walk. I've given up with survey sites (except quidco opinions) as i was screened out of so many surveys and i struggled to cash out.

I am also a member of quidco and topcashback so i get a few extra pennies this way. I often apply for freebies and use coupons (especially supersavvyme) in supermarkets so i will continue to do this. I have loyalty cards for everything and even had to invest in a seperate card holder to keep track of them all (20p ebay bargain including postage!)

I've also started stopping at the local supermarket most days on my way home from work to check out the reduced bargains which is a bit hit and miss.

If anyone has any other ideas i'd welcome them! Every penny counts (i'm even stockpiling carrier bags before we have to pay for them!)

Anyway i apologise for the life story! Thanks in advance for all the help. I need the motivation to keep going!
  • Off to a small start, £8.51 payout from Quidco! It's not much but it's better than £0!

Yes, i already have an accountant i use so i'll leave that for him to sort out.

If you don't mind me asking why do you pay an accountant to do it? It really isn't that hard to do things like that yourself. Just record money in, money out, expenses such as jiffy bags, buying stock what not, and then record the sums each year online to HMRC.

  • Got off the mark today with a £3.30 late Christmas tip from a tax payer.

That will be increased this weekend since I have 2 Cheques to cash in totaling £66.84, one is a rebate from the Tax office and the other is from Music Magpie for a bunch of games I got rid off towards the end of last year. I'm also due an Under 15's football game to referee on Sunday and Weather permitting that should be another £18 which will leave me just shy of entering triple figures.

Over the course of next week I hope to list a couple of items on Ebay including a Keyboard which I expect will fetch around £100 and a pair of headphones which were brought for £30 when new and they've barely been used since buying them so I expect around £20 for them.

By the end of this month I aim to achieve somewhere around the £300 mark which would give me a solid start to the year and possibly the same in Febuary but it will be much needed as I suspect that I might be having a slow summer in terms of extra income.

I'm on £49.88 so far (received). Another £400 + 115 euros to come but I won't count it until it is in the bank.

Anyway who has dollars in Paypal the rate has just got even better. 0.634 per pound.

I've another business going that he deals with for me. I'll prepare up all the info in spreadsheet format - purchases, sales, etc and i'll get him to work that in with my other stuff.

Assuming of course i continue doing it.

£1 sale & 1p roadkill. Also £2.50 sale pending payment and collection. All small amounts but they are adding up nicely.
