Have we established its the tower and not the monitor?
When you put them both on, does the monitor comes up with a message "no signal" or something similar
Wellllll I ve tried it a few times today and sometimes it says no signal on the tv monitor but says pc top left of the screen and sometimes it just says pc . When switched to tv mode the tv works so I don't know.0 -
Guessing the cable is VGA (because TV says "pc" rather than HDMI). Check the lead between PC and TV is firmly in at both ends. (VGA connects have a habbit of coming off unless screwed down.)Wellllll I ve tried it a few times today and sometimes it says no signal on the tv monitor but says pc top left of the screen and sometimes it just says pc . So no beeps whatsoever? I take it you've unplugged the TV cable and reinserted it in the back of the PC to make sure its not loose.
It would be worth trying with another PC monitor and HDMI cable if you have any lying around just to rule them out. But if you're getting no beeps, no hard drive powering, just a fan, most likely PSU failing.0 -
Thanks both i ll have to try again tomorrow now .0

Is the TV(monitor) selecting the correct source are you using VGA or DVI/HDMI ?I ve just tried it again and the pc fires up but still doesn t work
edited Sorry my post missed the earlier ones my automatic refresh not been working
.
As an aside does your other device (from where you post now) find your PC or does your router see it?0 -
So, when you power on, the PC doesn't beep or anything, some lights flash.
Does the hard disk light flash (one should have a logo like a cylinder on it or embossed in the case plastic) and/or is there some faint chattering noises from the machine?
How many display output connectors does the PC have? Has it got a built in one and an add-on graphics card?
The manuals are available at http://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt1/product-support/servicetag/G8PK75J/manuals; there's some troubleshooting tips there and also details of the connectors and so-on.0 -

Hi I don't know what light shows just presumed it was the pc switching on. It's on the front of the case where the button Is to press and lights up blue. There is a noise so something's happening but it's not a beeping noise. Don't know about graphics cards atm. Thanks I ll have a look0 -
I have had cases like this before and often the fan and heatsink are full of carpet fluff. Clean this all out.
If the computer starts after cleaning then it has temperature protection cut out. This is what stops the machine working as it protects the gubbins.
If the computer does not start after cleaning then the processor may have overheated and cooked.
It is because the processor isn't working that you get no POST or pictures. It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.0 -
